Legally, I believe that everything in Unreal-series games (Unreal, Unreal: RTNP, Unreal 2, UT, UT2003, UT2004, UT3) is fair game for porting to other Unreal series games.

Unreal 2 unfortunately uses a proprietary animation system that makes porting anything that's not a static mesh difficult / impossible.

Since I've went through all the official Unreal soundtracks, I figured I'd go through some other music that's Creative Commons / free for use in noncommercial projects.

Here's an album by Zynthetic, who is an industrial / electronic musician who's made music for various Unreal community mod projects. She's made quite a bit of music that I really like, but this is the only full album that I could find at the moment (I want to avoid individual tracks unless there are enough to compile them myself)

I personally loved the music on Quake/Quake 2 and I might be the only one.. -.-"
However, would anybody be interested in the http://www.sonicmayhem.com/ soundtracks from e.g. Quake,
I have 21 songs and Included a remix of the UT99 song "Suprfist" all files are .OGG format
here's the link Sonic_Mayhem.zip File size = 52.50 MB
apparently they did "all the weapon sound effects for Unreal Tournament."
I find these songs make good map music, it all depends on your music taste I guess.

Recently I was cleaning up some things in my music player and I figured I'd post this here -

http://ocremix.org/albums/

On this page are 23 albums worth of material. Looking for Doom music remixes? Looking for Final Fantasy 7 music remixes? Here you go. Don't think 23 albums is a lot of music? Well, just for example - The Final Fantasy 7 album is actually 4 "discs" just in itself.

The amount of music here is pretty damn staggering, so unfortunately I am not going to convert these to .ogg format or rehost them. The OCRemix.org site provides several ways to download them, and it's easy enough to convert them to .ogg format. If you do end up using any custom music though it's highly recommended that in your posts introducing your map you also include the custom music files you use.

Another update:

Zelda Re-Orchestrated (ZREO) brings you remixes and reinterpretations of Zelda music. Music is released under Creative Commons Attribution No Derivative Works license.

Plenty of music up here, I've been listening to some of the tracks off this site this evening and I can see some of these being put to use for some interesting atmospheres.

More free-to-use music...

Arcticology - 5 albums, ambient style, licensed under Creative Commons.

Which has lead me to this online "label" of sorts called EarthMantra

All music on EarthMantra is released under Creative Commons Attribution, Non-Commercial, No-Derivative works license

Well I noticed that Filefront has kind of deleted a bunch of the files I used to have hosted on there, so I'm moving some stuff over to my own hosting.
To start with, some new music!

This music is from Nexuiz (Classic) which is a free first person shooter game reminiscent of Quake 3. I'm not really sure about the specifics of making this music available, but Nexuiz as a whole is released under GPL so I assume it's fine to use it in other noncommercial products with credit. These tracks are designed to be background music in a multiplayer FPS so they should fit right in with UT. Cool tracks too I must say, 17 "real" tracks and one extra that's some lightning/ambient sound.

Apparently, Epic Games & People Can Fly nicely decided to release the original soundtrack for their Bulletstorm game for free.

Download here: http://www.fileplanet.com/219615/210000 ... Soundtrack

I just listened to the soundtrack last night and earlier today. It's pretty sweet! Definitely worth checking out if you like soundtracks.

Unfortunately the album download did not contain any licensing documentation. However I assume since the soundtrack is being released for free to anyone who wants it that no one is going to object to me making these .ogg file conversions available.
For those of you looking to use these in your maps, or who want to listen to the music in-game, feel free to download it here.

For those who are interested, I came across this interesting site with some killer soundtrack style music. It'd be really great for any custom maps to use this music. In particular check out the "Epic Soul Factory" album.
