Is there a way I can make a copy of a side of a map? I would like to add some custom vehicles to a map. I'm sure most ONS maps use this for balanced game play.

You can select the portion of the map (or the whole map) by selecting the actors manually or using the Ctrl + Alt + Drag Left Mouse button to do a rectangle selection in your side or top viewports.

Once you got your selected actors, go to edit ---> copy.

Now open your map, and go to edit ---> paste.

All of the actors may be in place there. If you copied any geometric brushes, you'll need to rebuild the map to see the BSP surfaces.

Have fun!

How do I do this if I want to do a quick edit on one side of a core on an already mirrored map?

Like you want to edit one side of the map but then the other side will automatically update itself while you make the changes?

I know you can mirror the terrain in one or both axis, but I doubt you can edit two sides of a map at once since different sides call for different properties. Different player starts (team number), Core color, etc...

If anything, you can delete one half of the map. Edit your new changes to one side, then duplicate your side back to the other side.

There's no automatic symmetry mode, no.

Your best bet for total symmetry is only to ever build half your map, then add everything to a "Red Side" group, duplicate the items in the group and then turn it into a "Blue Side" group and rotate/mirror it properly.
Using groups in general is something I rarely see people do but makes repetitive elements much easier to handle, and adjusting things like overall lighting on the fly much easier.

Thanks for the help Ant and Wail
I guess I have a rough idea of what I could do if the map is perfectly symmetrical, I could just copy what I had placed and paste to the the other core and hopefully it will seem symmetrical :swondering:
