Major PL on one hop

Report any issues or suggestions here. Intermittent lag happens, so don't report it unless it is excessive

yep looks correct

the % column is what your looking at really. Its percantage of packets sent then recieved back to you. It should be 0% meaning you send 100 you sould get back 100. ours is like 42% thats not good.

Packet loss means no sniping for you.

So is this an issue with my ISP or the server on down the line and what can I do to rectify this nasty business?

Naw nothing you can do about it my friend. The frist one or two "hops" IP addresses are yours,or your internet companies really(ip.alltell.net), the rest are someone elses in the chain. The last 2 look like there with who ever Toxic uses to host the server. Im sure he will chime in with the correct answer.

Remember back on Cains lair they had all those problems with the altlanta hop, Level 3 comminications. The only thing you can do is call, write, bug that company to fix there routers. Its a big weakness in the internet as I see it.

My provider says there is nothing wrong. And I kind of agree with them.

Different hardware reacts differently to ping requests. Sometimes, a router will drop packets if it is too busy. Sometimes responding to a ping request is just so low down in the priority list, that it gets missed. I think in this case it's the latter.

No one ever sees 40% pl in game. At least I have never seen it myself. 1-5%, I see quite a bit. From the looks of your tracerts, you have 1-5% pl all across your route.

Your pl in game is I think much more accurate than pl in the trace utility. Your in game packets are not pings, and will get prioritized and processed normally, where a ping request will not.

So is there anything I can do to eliminate this? Is it my hardware? Is it my ISP? Should I try sacrificing a goat or a chicken? I'm willing to try anything here. Didn't have PL with Verizon, but this new connection is hampering my gameplay.

An old email I think Candylick put out explained how to force your route , the only thing I didn't back up was my saved mail , thought I had but alas it was all lost during the re-install . I bet someone can dig it up .

That would be great. I'm sure my pet goat would appreciate it; he's a little nervous right now. But not nearly as nervous as my pet turkey.

What would be a better packet size to check. I think winmtr does 64 bytes. I wonder what UT2004 sends?

This reply contains player records, the are as much player records as there are players reported by the [server info]
It begins with the [id]: 02
From that point you will get the player records in the following format: 00 00 00 00 player number internal player ID (XMP bug? never updated)
00 00 00 00 player ID internal player ID (XMP bug? never assigned)
04 44...69 00 player name a string with the player name
00 00 00 00 ping the ping of the player
00 00 00 00 score player score
00 00 00 00 stat ID actually not used (same as in UT2003)
03 number of player properties number of key=value pairs that follow (like with the server info)
the rest key = value pairs the rest of the player data contain "key = value" pairs just like in the game info

I got that from here El muerte I think he played on Cains a while . So what does that mean I cant count binary.
