Aimbotters...know your real enemy.
joblow@bellsouth.net game contact email.
Actually I've witnessed the destruction of an entire game, a few point releases (game wide updates), mods (mutators sorta), because of hacks in Q3. They also had punkbuster which was updated weekly. What defeated punkbuster? Custom coded bots/hacks that were sold for as little as $50. This wasn't just a problem in Q3 however. The bots could be so humanized that players were using them on the enemy territory ladder matches, and not just pubs. I once received a link after doing some research that showed 230+ hacks for MoH:AA. It's a problem with every online game, hell there was even a no fog hack for CnC (which particular one I don't recall).joeblow wrote:Now you guys no what I been talking about all along.

Please PM me the info as well. We'll keep an eye out for him.
You must understand our requirement for a demo. We cannot blindly accept accusations from anyone. I even ask my admins to post me demos. It's there to validate the claim, and also to protect the admin. If the subject disagrees, we have the proof, and if it was a mistake, it was a mistake we all made, not just one person.
TBH, there are folks out there who are BETTER than aimbots. A truly elite player will look exactly like a hack. This is why you must carefully evalute all the information you can gather before passing judgement.
I would rather miss banning 10 hacks, than ban 1 innocent person.

The only reason I posted the info I did was to point out, cheat crap is so good you really need to weed out the newbs that cry cheat all the time and the people that are just aware that the net is now saturated with cheats. People will become more bold with them and probably not care if they caught, because a new iteration of UT is coming out, so their installation key may be banned, but with a new version brings all new possibilities. Even people that aren't into aimbots will give them a whirl. Hell I would be tempted to run it on Linode if I wasn't running Linux. 99 went down hill the same way. It will get MUCH worse before UT3 comes out.
Plus I know all you F-ers are cheating anyway!
Playing CLR and SVA I have noticed a huge difference in play between good players and cheaters. The way they move, the way they attack, where they go, etc. It is hard to explain it is just different.

Well look who's back in town , heard there was an e-mail floating around about it but I wasn't on the receiving end.
The last thing the video says in text was if u suspect , record it . Go back and watch the whole thing .
Just ducking was a way to maybe help detect , especially with an unskilled player. Non the less a informative video .
In reality we do get botters we have banned botters , Vid's go along way .
Doing what I did last night seems like a lot more definitve way of testing them than leaving and making a video. I can't make a video while I'm playing. Maybe the admins around here could try something like that. Relying on us to make videos only helps. There are way for you to help us players, too. I'm not saying that you don't help us out already. But I am saying that it's something you could do.
Everyone - The main point of this post was to inform you all that if you suspect a botter then there are things you can do. Watch the video and find some of your own. Fear of botting and panic yells of "botter" accomplish nothing. Get some information and use it. That's all I'm saying.

Ya I'm back. Sickly and tired, but otherwise mostly alive. Played some MM yesterday while home "sick" from work :drunken: but that's about it.
I'll be spending the next few days catching up with everyone.
As for cheaters, a big part of what I use to determine if someone is cheating is their movement. Very few people who cheat learn to move very well. It always gives me pause when someone moves well, and it take a lot for me to ban someone at that point.
I'd say we've banned probably a dozen or so hackers over the years. And we've had plenty of false alarms. Agreed that things will probably get worse. There's no cheat protection out there and the bot writers do not rest.
We're happy to ban legitimate cheaters, so demo up.
