Having not played UT99, and liking everything the way it is in UT2004, I would prefer most things (shock included!) to stay the same. However, I will reserve judgment until I get to play it first hand. Let's just say, there's a slight difference between a press conference (or whatever that is) and actually playing the game yourself. On further note, if they wanted the shock to be overpowered, they should add a tertiary fire (scope) and quaternary fire (link gun "fiery green penis" man that's so funny) to the mix.

Double post mania!!!
50 hp for an actual bio hit, 95 for a rocket, 130 flak prime (160? flak alt), Minigun and link are pretty powerful once tickrates are increased, ect. Which weapons were you referring too?WailofSuicide wrote:I'd prefer that they not "nerf" the Shock Rifle anyway -- I don't feel like the Shock Rifle is particularly overpowered, I'd rather have most of the other weapons beefed up. Either way, let's face it, the Shock Rifle is UT's signature weapon, and if it's a little too versatile I don't mind so much. I just want the other weapons to have enough of an edge that they're always useful in the appropriate situation.
You want all that turned up? I rather see nearly every weapon turned down. As it stands the 50 shield is close to useless, and the health vials are close to it too.

Back in the day, there was a serer mod where, if you killed a couple people in a row using the secondary pulse rifle, a message would appear at the bottom of everyone's screen saying:
Name-of-killer likes green penis.

I wouldn't mind seeing some damage boosts for AR (Enforcers), Bio, Mini and Link. Raw damage values on the RL and Flak weren't changed much, but dodge jumping completely changed the game around them. A good player will kill you in a second regardless of what weapon he has, but as it is currently a new or moderate player can get completely owned without ever scoring a frag -- In my opinion this is why UT2K4 has no real DM community. It's just not all that fun for new people if they can't get any kills.DW_Hornet wrote:50 hp for an actual bio hit, 95 for a rocket, 130 flak prime (160? flak alt), Minigun and link are pretty powerful once tickrates are increased, ect. I'm cautiously optimistic concerning UT3 after reading this interview. I may actually get back into CTF seriously if they've fixed all the stupid stuff they put into the UT2004 version of the gametype. Trans should go back to being completely unlimited still as trans whores were never hard to kill despite the whiners but what's said here is a step in the right direction. Fond memories here of wasting away the hours in original UT CTF marathon sessions... hmmm.
Thanks for the info.
