Microsoft to Buy Epic?
Wouldn't surprise me. Especially given all of the comments about focussing on consoles from EPIC employees.
What may be more interesting is the fact that EPIC makes one of the bigger licensed engines out there. Don't know what that will mean. MS has a habit of embracing, extending, and extinguishing.
I just wonder how much money MS is going to blow on the Xbox series when all is said and done. I am not sure if getting into people's living rooms is that important.

No doubt, if this is true, it's all about the engine being exclusively xbox, maybe even to the detriment of any further PC development at ALL.

I searched all the major news website and both Microsoft and Epic and found nothing on them about this. I did do some more research and found out that its out the word is that its abotu 50/50 if its just a rumor or if they are really going to do it. Me personally, i really dont care. Microsoft has too much money and they could buy almost anything they want which is kind of very scary. But just cuz they gonna buy them isnt gonna make ppl go out and buy microsoft products. Well we can only wait and see if its gonna happen.

A Micro$quish purchase of Epic would probably be the last and final nail in the coffin for the Unreal Tournament series, which is not to say that the series isn't already well on its way to assuming room temperature.
Game over. Letting Bungie go this summer and now they are going to buy out the new cash cow developer for the xbox, Gears of War developer Epic. How disappointing if this comes about. No longer will the tournament be viable. Hey they killed off most of the legends from the first game or aged them considerably. This is end game folks.

No shame, no dishonor, will run away to fight another day!

Given that there's no information on this other than, "Some guy at GamePro said it was going to happen" I think discussing it is kind of pointless.
EDIT: Looked into this a bit more, found this tidbit over at BeyondUnreal.

Don't really understand why that means we can't discuss it. Very often rumors are based in truth. There's nothing else relevant to discuss regarding Epic right now so why not? I'd much rather be talking about UT3. But there's REALLY no reason to do that. Know why?
Know how many people are playing UT2004 right now? 1,250.
Know how many people are playing UT3 right now? 400.
Know how many are playing COD4 right now? 23,000.
Doesn't matter who owns them. RIP UT.
