Why not add spawn protection to the RPG menu as a ability to buy>? i know of abilitys where you buy lvl 1 and u get 10 seconds then each lvl after that is 1 second and max lvl = 20, i know this does protect even while shooting for the time you have bought. its simple process and im sure if approved wail could have it done in a few mins.

i truthfully dont see anything wrong...its just how the game goes...im sure if the bio titans were still on here you would be complaining about the goo killing you and im surprised someone hasnt complained about getting their head taken off by a titan rock on a big map...all complaining about something like this is gona do is make a perfectly good monster be removed...so toughen up and take the hit every like 30 games cause thats about how often it happens....

My observations...

When playing low level characters, sometime I would die before I even left spectator mode, from Volcanic Sliths. I live in the US and there is absolutely nothing I can do to stop it. I just assume that I never spawned, until I see my name, and that I have been obliterated before the announcer ever announced the new round countdown.

Maybe just shorten the time for the Volcanic Slith Ultima by a second or two. Should be plenty.

I've also seen 12 players die simultaneously on the start of a Luci wave from this.

ooohhhh how much I enjoy seeing 12 bodies flying in the air at Crumpet. Along with the chorus the dead people make when they scream their dieing song...I know it's sad missing the luci wave, but you gotta admit, it's hilarious watching this.

Don't worry, I'm in the chorus, too. so don't think I find it funny because I'm not in. hehe it's very funny watching my body do backflips with 11 others.

The major thing is, spawn protection should last about 9-10 seconds or so. I don't know what it's set at currently.

Since you spawn at the start of a 10 second countdown, you may as well get spawn protection for most or all of that time period, since nothing should be attacking you then. The only way to die then would be to cancel your own spawn protection by attacking - In which case dying is your fault.

but as mobius just said its not our fault and we arent canceling our own spawn protection it happens before we even get the chance to do anything about it :S
and no bigws i wouldnt be complaining about being hit by a titan rock during a level that is part of the game and ur own fault for not moving out the way of it but this im complaining about coz as of rite now there is nothing we can do to stop half the people being obliterated at the start of luci wave :S

I got blown apart on Crumpet recently before I'd done anything whatsoever, so the ultima must be getting through the spawn protection. Taking a quick look in the coding for it, the timer for ultima is currently set to 3 seconds after the slith's death, so i think that even reducing it to 2.5 would resolve the problem.

I sure wouldn't appreciate that -- once I've killed a Volcanic Slith, I need as much time as possible to get my medic out of the way. A corner, a hole, a trans across the map -- anything will do, but I need time.

Lowering the ultima time to less than three seconds just ain't nice.
I know what you mean. Thing is, it's a miniscule amount of time which they're invading the next wave into. Even 2.9 would probably solve it, and .1 of a second only moves you a tiny, unnoticeable amount.

That's only the simplest way though. The real problem is in the coding for ultima, and that could be changed nearly as simply (hopefully). Just my opinion though.

So, uh, how often is this really happening to people? Because I haven't gotten wave-killed by a Slith ultima in about six months, and in that period I've started an entirely new character too.

If someone wants to come up with some real information on how often this is actually affecting people, instead of exaggerations about half the players regularly getting blown up by ultimas, I may decide whether I want to give this more attention.

In the meantime, there are some changes coming down the pipeline anyway.

This only happened to me twice at Crumpet in my whole "career" in Monster Mash >:)

I don't think it's much of an issue.
