Map and server suggestions

Report any issues or suggestions here. Intermittent lag happens, so don't report it unless it is excessive

I took no offense at anything that has been said here. These are people's opinions, and we're all adults having a discussion (unlike that PS3 thread :compress: )

Ultimately, I am here to serve you guys, and if no one speaks up, I am forced to guess at what you like. So far I have done a halfway decent job, but I have not done a great job. Now I'm working on the great part with help from people like those posting in this thread.

Toxic, would it be possible for you to remove "ONS-Airmars" after a majority vote? At first I though the map was fun. I'm always game for some dog fighting but later on I came to realize its flaws. Having to wait for aircraft to spawn can be tedious when you're trying to build and expand on single nodes. Sure it adds to the difficulty but when you have 5-7 players are waiting for a ride and you have nodes that need to be built or defended. It does tend to test one's nerves.

Other than that, I've been very pleased with DW server. Thanks for putting together an excellent server!

I can honestly say that Airmars is the only Map where I have NEVER waitied on a Raptor. There is like an infinite number of Raptors on the Core ship and a half-dozen scattered at the other nodes. If people are destroying the Raptors on the Core ship, just take them out with Avrils and move on.

Don't take Mars away, Toxic! It's a great map to break up the smaller ones like Dreamus and such. Love all that open space and Raptor skillz...and the tricky-ass nuke.

I meant no offense JRV...just stating another viewpoint. It's better to have more map options in my opinion. Seriously...this wasn't intended to start a flame war or that. I understand that people don't like Mars, just like how I hate CataldiPark with every fiber of my being. But I gave up on trying to persuade people not to vote for it or whatever.

Ultimately, it's up to the man upstairs. Or the man in Sparta, NJ, in our case.

None taken. I'm always open for suggestions, so don't worry about offending me when presenting a different viewpoint.

I with you on CataldiPark, the node layout leaves for too many holes to the core.


-My comments on "No Mines".

I think it's a good idea to remove the spider mines from "bitchslap". Another map I would suggest removing the feature from is the map that looks like you're little and the cores and nodes are in the corners of the room(there is also a node in the middle of the room).

When everyone noticed the change to "BitchSlap -No Mines-", I almost fell out of my chair laughing at everyone's voice chat remarks.

Me, I'm flexible. I like a lot of different things, and I think that's reflected in the server. Sometimes I like strategy, and playing a map for an hour. And sometimes, I like a pure spamfest, just picking up a flack cannon, taking out 3 people, getting killed, and doing it all over again. If you ask me, it's very satisfying taking an advantage on a map like Dreamus, where the spam is equal on both sides. To me, getting that middle node up takes skill. The adrenaline rushes furiously as I'm charging up that node, looking at the build meter and looking at that empty spot waiting for people to come running over that hill any second.

I would get bored quickly if all of the maps on the server were the same (all spam, all strategy, etc.)

I somewhat agree with the single node to the core chokepoint, but only somewhat. Sometimes it's a personal challenge to me to keep a team from winning in regular time, and I'll do everything I can to keep that team from winning that way. Especially if it's only the first round, and we get another crack at them. We may never get that node back, but you'll have to take the core over my dead body.

But that's just me. I play every match with the tenaciousness of a rabid dog. Some folks out there have become a little bored (I guess) of ONS, that two minutes into a match, the third node from the core falls, and, they tell their team to lay down and let it end. I don't know what those people get out of playing still, and I think they should move on to a new game.

And about comebacks: Why does everyone think that comebacks are required? This is war my friends, and if one army is stronger than the other, than that's the way it is. We can have a nice mid-game battle for 10 minutes, and then have one team gets the final node. Why should it be easy for me to come back on them? And one thing that everyone forgets, is that if you make a map that's easy for a defending team to come back on, then you make it nearly impossible for the attacking team to finish it, and you get overtime everytime. Think about that for a few minutes, and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

.. Oh I see.. Ah This guy Toxic.. Is just so wise my friends.. -- HE has this very important thing.. Called Passion for a game .. Wich brings.. All that Fun .. all that willing to keep on fighting .. no matter how ugly is the situation.. He finds the fun on just kiling a bunch of players.. DM style like if there weren't any nodes.. But then The hability to .. Outsmart the other team and take the most.. Fighted over and important node.. Via the most evil minded and advantaged Strategy .. All that adrenaline ..and the Force to just keep on fighting even when his team is full of Those new players that he likes... and he finds himself alone in the field.. When the enemy will GEt to his precious Core only passing tru his dead, headless (in case of manta head shot) boddy .. NOw tha's the spirit the passion again .. The reazon why he host's one of the most Great games Ever.. ( to me) .. Im so with this guy on that.. Fellows.. Somethimes i hear.. And then you feel how your Caracter is given a magical Hability to pass tru 2 enemy mantas searching for your head.. overcome a Tank Atak .. that's been healed by 3 players ..behind a hill .. Get closer and closer .. Shooting at the node dodging and jumping .. and keep on going closer to the node.. closer and you see in your hood how your hp is dangerously going down.. as the flack shells , shock and link gun shoots hit your body's player as if him were you feeling all that damage.. and when you finally get there and with .. 10 ph reading in your hood.. a manta coming right at you , a tank ready to aim its turret at your almost dead body.. and 7 enemy players on foot.. trying to take your last ph's .. you switch to best weapon . . and let a Nuclear Head of your redeemer . Fly 2 feet to hit the node.. while you watch yourself die.. with the big smile in your face.. THinking for yourself.. Suck on this '' .. :)

Any chance of seeing BigDam make it into the Spam Vikings servers' rotations?
