I'm with an independent ISP, GWI (Great Works Internet).

Anyways, I've done trace routes and haven't seen anything that looks like it would cause a connection problem considering I've seen as much as 70% packet loss without losing my connection. Something's changed.

I got the same problem from 3 days now. I kept losing the connection after like 3-5 minutes of play. WinMTR result sem to show a communication prblem between hte machine just in front of MM (ip17.208-100-32.static.steadfast.net : probably a router) and another server loacted in NYC (sl-bb24-nyc-10-0.sprintlink.net - ip : 144.232.13.181). Something must be broken between those 2 servers, i hope the situation will be resolve soon cause i cant play in those condition.

If you guys could post your tracer routes that would help. I do think it is one hop that is bad incoming to the server.

I have Bellsouth here in Knoxville and I played for hours no problems Friday and Saturday.

Loonacy,Ifondlesweeters, peacefrog are the three I know were having problems and are guys I know well.

Other thing might not be related is when people get booted they log back in as Player(24) or something like that. Its like the server still thinks they are logged and from the first crash and when they relog with the same name its like 2 people are there.

This is a trace to Server 2. Besides the 9% packet loss at one node, I see nothing spectacular about this tr. As I've mentioned previously, I've experienced as much as 70% packet loss yet remained connected. Over the last 2 days, I can barely remain connected for more than a round.

OK Toxic and Wraith are working on it so don't everyone spam them.

EDIT: next statement is not a reflection on Wraith or Toxic AT ALL but the internet/ISP's in general. Wanted to make that clear did not come out like I wanted.

It Sunday and we all no IT people don't work weekends.

dvn thanks for the info. Your ping is not to bad really but there does seem to be some packet loss. Assuming you are on cable have you tried looking at your modem signals? Swaping modems also would not hurt most are just cheap Chinese junk.

The 9% you see in nyc is just the routers dont like ICMP packets so they dont always pass them correctly. Its the 1% on the game IP and the hop after your IP you want to concentrate on.

OK, I can't see anything obvious, but I do see, and I am myself experiencing the disconnects.

The server itself appears to be fine. My connection otherwise appears to be fine. Right now, I'm still investigating.

In the mean time, I have applied all the latest MS patches and rebooted the server. Perhaps that will improve things.

I'll keep an eye on it going forward.

Thanks for keeping me informed. The following information is very helpful:

who your ISP is
What state you live in

Ok, I was on Server 2 around 12:00am 9-9-08. I was linking another player for about 4 rounds, no problem. When he died, I took the head of the line and started firing directly at the monsters.

Within 5 - 10 seconds of firing directly on the monsters, I was in some stage of being disconnected.

I could no longer see my shots, but I could hear the hits and I saw a 'Mulit Kill' message. I tried texting, but no-go. In another few seconds, I could tell that was no longer connected to the server, although the map was still displayed. I could still move around the map sorta like I was in spectator mode.

What any of this means, I don't know. I don't know if this is necessarily repeatable. This is just a snapshot of what I saw.

I'll also saw that in many previous disconnects, I could no longer see my shots, but I could see messages like 'PlayerX' has left the server or whatever. So it was like I was in some incomplete stage of connection or disconnection, depending on how you wanna look at it.

***Ok. After further investigation, I can see that this has nothing to do with shooting monsters. It was just a coincidence. lol

This is exactly what I have been experiencing on Server 1.

I don't think it has to do with actually shooting the monsters because it happens to me when shooting monsters, when linking, and happened earlier while i was standing still applying stat points.

Right after the server was reset earlier I was able to last until about wave 6-7 before I started with all these symptoms and then dropped. After reconnecting it was happening about every 2-3 minutes.

I started this trace just before I joined Server 2 and stopped it when I got disconnected. Packet loss wasn't particularly bad. I was also monitoring packet loss in game (F6) and saw 0 - 4%. Again, not too bad at all compared with what I've seen in the past.

First, I lost visual on my shots, but sounds remained. Then those died and I was obviously completely disconnected.
