Take that as a bit of forewarning guys. If you buy an EA game and it ends up having draconian DRM on it (as all EA games have had recently: Even Fallout 3 even though they claimed it did not have it) and you go to the forums to complain... You will be banned both from the forums and from the games. Nice! Some Electronic Arts representative wrote: Well, its actually going to be a bit nastier for those who get banned.
Your forum account will be directly tied to your Master EA Account, so if we ban you on the forums, you would be banned from the game as well since the login process is the same. And you’d actually be banned from your other EA games as well since its all tied to your account. So if you have SPORE and Red Alert 3 and you get yourself banned on our forums or in-game, well, your SPORE account would be banned to. It’s all one in the same, so I strongly reccommend people play nice and act mature.
All in all, we expect people to come on here and abide by our ToS. We hate banning people, it makes our lives a lot tougher, but its what we have to do.
Those banned will stay banned, but like most other internet services, its not that hard to create a new fake e-mail account. However, its a lot harder to get a new serial key =)
Avatars should be back within 2 weeks of the launch.

I don't think so. I really think that many companies will lead to that direction what EA is heading. However, the companies that refuse to do this will make better business now that their competators are selling less

If you click on Hamster's link you will see that the guy from EA spoke incorrectly. So, they're not banning people from their games that they ban from the forums. There is still the issue of the DRM though.

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who read binary, and everyone else.
4013 is only a FAD
And 2989? Well that's just BAD

If you've paid attention to EA's behavior over the past few months they've quite obviously been using this same strategy of having someone make a statement that was/is outrageous, and then later backtracking on the initial claims with inconsequential minor steps backward.BrainPan wrote:If you click on Hamster's link you will see that the guy from EA spoke incorrectly. Basically they're aiming to craft the psychological impression that "Hey, at one point there was a problem with this game/company/whatever, but now things are all better."
The so-called clarification today merely said that it's not their current policy at this time to ban people from games who have been banned from their forums assuming the forum ban was not for a violation of the EULA. And since the EULA is non-negotiated, and can be updated at any time without notice, it's effectively no different from the initial report.

That's because EA has horrible management that somehow swallows up several smaller development studios, and yet simultaneously ends up putting all their eggs in the proverbial basket with things like The Sims and Madden franchises, along with blowing ridiculous amounts of money developing for more expensive console games that are high on graphics, low on content. All the while, they manage to piss off hordes of otherwise would-be loyal customers.DW_Hornet wrote:Electronics Arts reports loss, will lay off more than 500 workers
