I doubt you will find a dual core processor that will fit your current MB so you will most likely need a new MB and if thats the case then you will probably also need new memory as well.

Try newegg.com and you can find everything you will need.

I'm glad your looking at price watch, but the fact of the matter is, intel in their infinite wisdom remade the same socket with a different pin configuration for dual cores. So your motherboard likely may NOT support dual core chips. If you want help I suggest you post the motherboard your going to place it in, WITH the revision number.

Ok I was in the shower and realized how fruitless my post was. You are either running a NorthWood processor or a Williamette. Probably not even the great P4C (with the 200 FSBs) variants. Your likely going to need a new computer, since seemingly your RAM, Motherboard, Video card are all going to be incompatible with even the first Intel Dual core (The Pentium D), which I can't even see myself ever recommending you.

Just give up, save up a few hundred, and start over.

Sounds like you have a socket 478. They don't support dual core processors. You could probably get a faster P4 but I wouldn't recommend it cost/performance wise. Like Damaged and Hornet said, you need to think about a whole new system.
