Settings and tweaks for ATI cards

I was wondering, does anyone know of any good tweaks and settings for UT2K4 for ATI cards? (Radeon 9550 to be exact on Windows XP professional) At times my card locks up for about 10 seconds and then by the time the graphics catch up, I'm dead. lol Any help would be appreciated.

That was happening to me also. I have the 9600. The only thing that fixed it is i went to one gig ram. Could try going to 600x 800 that gave me about 10 fps on some heavy areas on maps I was having trouble with. I keeped testing settings with the stats fps running until I got improvements.

tri-linear filtering i left on as well made big improvment. Im also running the card over clocked with that ATI proggy.

MIght want to do some research on newer drivers or one specific for this game and whatever Direct X it uses.

I guess I'll try pushing my 9600 a little; an overclock job and trilinear sound good, since I'm putting this box on server duty next yearish anyway. Kitty wants a new computer! :p

I usually recommend people try the drivers from http://www.tweaksrus.com . I had a big gain with both my old X850XT and my Nvidia 7800GT using their tweaked drivers... very stable, no problems.

Windows-only? Eww, oh well, it'll help. The more I can ungimp my Windows setup, the better my game experience until ATI releases some drivers that WORK.

*kicks ATI and promises to have a new box for when 2007 comes out*
