question about retaliation
hey all, i was wondering something about the ability of "retaliation". Either way i was wondering do you get XP for the amount of damage the "retaliation" deals to the monsters, or does it simply deal damage to those monsters.
You get xp.
However if you have high dr & you're not taking any or little damage, you will not retaliate much damage.

Buzzzzzzzzz!! Wrong answer.
The skill "Retaliation" do not work at all. It's a total waste of stats points.
However any "weapon of retaliation" deal a certain damage to monster whenever they damage you. The amout of damage depend of the + on the weapon and your dr. High dr deal less damage to you then of course less damage to the monsters.

I have Retaliation 5. Long ago I wanted to max it thinking that any damage done to monsters is good. However it's expensive to buy and unlike other skills it's almost impossible to measure its effect. For me it made sense to forget about Retaliation and invest in maxing adren, then ammo bonus, and finally other skills like Quick Foot and Power Jump.
Also I assume that it wouldn't be useful for anyone who globes a lot especially AMs.

Since when did Retaliation doesn't work?? o.O
Why is it still up there??

Retaliation never worked since the server was borne. This skills is broken, the person that did the coding made it so it only work on players and it actually never been working on monsters or bots (ie : AI controled actors). This skill only work on other players if the mutator (UTRPG) is use in a team vs team match.D2Boss wrote:Since when did Retaliation doesn't work?? o.O

Now i belive Wail is trying to make it work for monster but you have to confirm that with him.

AFAIK Retaliation does work against monsters. However, when you consider that the damage you retaliate is only a fraction of the [Damage-Reduction-Reduced] damage that you take, and that the retaliation damage is [probably] also reduced by a monster's damage reduction...
Example: You take 100 damage hit, divide it by 10 for your damage reduction. You retaliate 10 damage. Divide it by 10 for the monster's damage reduction. Your final retaliation damage is 1.
These are not actual numbers, but hopefully illustrates why Retaliation is rather weak (but it does work).

I guess retaliation & counter shove will be the last things to buy when you're lvl 400+ lol

::chuckling:: Retaliation is one of the reasons I have 300 stat points to spend on my level 400+ weapon master. If it functioned better, it might actually be worth the points, particularly for low to mid levels...but as it is now, not really worth the bother.D2Boss wrote:I guess retaliation & counter shove will be the last things to buy when you're lvl 400+ lol
As for Countershove....I do have that maxed out! LOL! But I admit, it was a "luxury" purchase for my WM. Currently it really only seems to work on the Angus (those naughtly upright bovines with the big blades)...but man does it work...those mooers go flying...sometimes clear across the map! That'll teach them to try and trim =my= Kat whiskers! ;)
