Here in the Download Section for the maps.. I didnt see a lot of the maps that actually rollin in the Server.. I wanted to have them because of that anoying Download Time every darn map change.. no matter how many times i play that same maps.. i always thought the downloads were just one time for each new map as in any other server and it would store in hd ready for the next time .. Is it only me or my pc or.. Does everyone dls maps every swich time..???? or is it evil stuff.. ?

UT downloads the maps to your cache. The files in your cache will stay around for a set amount of time and then get deleted. The easiest solution is simply to set your cache to never delete files. Alternatively, you can get a cache extractor, which will extract .ut2 (maps) .utx .usx and so on files to their appropriate directories in your UT2004 install. Yeah, sorry I just re-implemented the downloads section and have not had a chance to update it.
The maps should stay in your cache for 30 days, at which time they will expire and re-download.
The bast thing to do is use a cache extractor. You can google for "ut2k4 cache extractor." This will pull the maps out of your cache, and permanently install them in your UT folder.

Alternately you can go to your ut2004.ini file and look for the line that reads:
PurgeCacheDays=30
change it to 360, so it will keep it for a year, perhaps try 0 so it never deletes it (not 100% sure that 0 is correct).
Better yet, use a cache extractor. There is a way to manually do it (which is what I do), but since I am not at my home machine, I can't tell you exactly how to do it at the moment.

You can manually extract files from your cache by looking at cache.ini. Cache.ini associates the unique cache file names (aka A12KJNAKINN39429NFAL83MNFDINA84) with the package's real name (ie ONS-Bigmap.ut2). To do it by default what you need to do is replace the unique cache file name with the actual name of the file, delete the entry in the cache.ini, and move the map or other file into its appropriate UT2004/ directory.
It's a lot easier to use a cache extractor.

This is nice Info.. And really quick.. response.. Thanks !. . And about the cache hum .. the maps or files that come with them wouldnt stay not even for an hour .. is like fi they were deleted as soon as i quit UT.. But thats just for some maps.. ill deal with it . ..

there's a very cool utility named UT2004Mi (UT2004 Map installer), this program install and uninstall maps, cache, skins, play demos, barks! lol , you named it, unzip maps and install them in the c/ut2004 in a snap, it does all directly and make my life very simple on UT2004.
now here's the zip file link

or the .exe installer (for lazy guys) so you don.t have to unzip or nothing (just remember to save the program in your computer). exe file here:

good program but I prefer to install the latest maps. I really don't mind waiting 10 seconds to get the freakin' latest map version, so the game will play properly. I suggest the modification of the UT2004.ini file and set it to more then 30 days to clear the prob up, if it is one
