I've been getting some of those pop ups at MSN. It's definitely a phony. One way you can tell is that if your computer is working or not. Listen to your machine, if the program is scanning a million files a second & your cpu is remaining silent, then it's a fake.

Or if you have a slow machine like myself....You can easily tell if you're running a scan or not. My machine runs 3 - 4 times slower than usual simply to run a virus scan.

Last advise, trust the scanner you have now. If you don't like the scanner you have now, you must certainly NOT trust one from a pop up.
