But wait I have tried everything. =/ I will give you the model number for the linksys boxes. Because I have 2
one of them says:
EtherFast
Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch
Model BEFSR41
(note it has 4 ports but the port of the left an inch away says internet??)
other one says:
Instant bradband series
etherfast cable/dsl router
Model BEFSR11
(note that is only has a LAN and WAN port)

Marbles, follow this guide step by step and let us know how it works. I would suggest copying this guide to a text file on your computer as you will be disabling your internet through this process.
1. Use the BEFSR41. That is the better one. You only need one router - do not double connect your two routers.
2. Make sure the router is plugged in and find the reset button on the back. You will need a paperclip straightened to get to the button. Push and hold the button in for 30 seconds and then release. Let it sit for one minute... then unplug it.
3. Connect all your computers but DO NOT connect the comcast router line yet. Connect your primary computer to jack #1, your laptop or dads computer to jack #2, and the remaining computer to jack #3. Turn on all the computers. The plugs for the computers are the four connectors right next to one another. See this pic
4. Once you have done this plug the router back in and wait one minute. Open any web browser on your primary computer and type in 192.168.0.1 (if this address does not work, then type 192.168.1.1) A login window should load in your web browser. Leave the username space blank and type in "admin" (minus the quotes) to enter the router. (If that login info does not work, then use "admin" for both the username and password)
5. On the first tab called "setup" and then on the submenu under that called "basic setup" make sure that "DHCP server" is enabled. Also make sure that the "Maximum Number of DHCP Users" box is set to 10 or more. If they are set already then you are good, if not enable DHCP server, set DHCP users to 10 or more, and then hit "save settings" If you had to enable it you will probably be prompted to reboot the router by hitting a browser button.
6. On the last tab called "status" and then on the submenu under that called "router" click "DHCP release." You will notice some numbers disappear. Then hit "DHCP renew." Wait a minute and hit the "refresh" button. Numbers should show back up. If not, keep hitting refresh every 10 seconds or so until they do.
7. Close your web browser. Shut down all connected computers. Pull the power plug out of your linksys router, and then out of your comcast modem. Wait 5 minutes. BE PATIENT Go get a drink or something.
8. Run an ethernet cable from your comcast router to the internet in plug on your router.
9. Plug in your comcast modem and wait for all the lights to power up. Once it seems to have all the little lights going (if your modem is like mine it has green leds) then you are good. If in doubt, wait another 5 minutes.
10. Plug in your linksys router and wait for it to power up.
11. Turn on your primary computer and the other computers and check to see if you have access on all of them.
When you are done with this (hopefully it works) I would suggest going to linksys website and making sure the firmware is updated. You want to look at the label you got the model number from and you should see somewhere it says "ver. (blank)" You need to make sure you use the right version number when you download the firmware.

I think I just shi*t myself!!! I love you dude. It worked and I am so happy. I was sharing my computer with ethrust and I never got to play and now this is was easier!!! YOUR THE BEST!!!!!!!!

I believe I said the same thing in my 1st reply a month ago Marbles. The only difference was the nice little picture Damnidge posted.
Damaged, no offense man but your post was very different because you were not as specific and off on a few things:
1. You told him to use admin for username and password, but on the old BEFSR41 it would be username blank. Now you did get the default ip correct on the old linksys as 192.168.0.1, but FYI on all the new it is 192.168.1.1. You did mention at the end he needs to check his manual because it could be different, but I was acting off knowing what model it was (since he answered your great reply question)
Summary for all just FYI:
old linksys routers = 192.168.0.1 and admin for only password
new linksys routers = 192.168.1.1 and admin for both username and password.
2. You mentioned resetting the modem but only under the idea of him messing something up. The fact that we have no clue where he got this from (he could have been given it used with changed settings, etc.) would mean we would want to tell him to restore factory defaults right away. You also mentioned 5 seconds, but on Linksys routers it is 30 seconds to reset, and sometimes you have to power them down and back up again after the reset, which you also did not mention.
I could point out all the other details that make it different, but I don't want to start a pissing contest here because in the end we were both trying to help. The only other points I want to make are that a) I was not trying to rain on your parade or steal your glory, and b) when it is obvious the person seeking help is a total noob (no offense Marbles) easily marked steps with small details are better - you had one giant rambling paragraph that was even hard for me to follow. If you think I'm full of it ask Acy, he's a teacher and would back up this view.
