This was a good exercise, you now know how to clear your self from the problem.
Yep it looks like it has been cleared at the moment. I bet the game feels a lot better now.
At least you know it was not your problem or the servers, at least this time, good luck.
Your are correct traffic overload will cause odd packet loss, I have seen packets travel two routes and
getting to the final destination out of order, yes it should be impossible but it happens, you will warp
around the game in some unusually weird ways. The game likes to crash or lock up when this happens.
repeated packet lose

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Emerson

Yep it looks much better now. It looks like your starting somewhere in Ohio and going to Chicago and one would think that there wouldn't be many issues. It looks like you have cable modem or as some would like to say High speed internet so you are sharing bandwidth with all of the other people on your router. If you’re on a 48 port router and all 48 people are using the internet at the same time your speed will decrease depending on what others are doing. One min you may have transfer speeds of 8-10 meg per second and the next it could be 1 meg per second.
Glad things are better and you’re now able to enjoy the games.

You shouldnt have any problems with Cable even though your sharing bandwidth. I tried to switch to cable from DSL even though DSL is a little more dedicated than cable but Brighthouse stopped running the line 1/2 mile from my house. That 15meg line I thought I was getting would have been sweet. So until they add another 1/2 mile of lines I'm stuck with my 3meg DSL and for me thats fine. I live in FL and get very little packet loss if any at all when playing on the MM servers. So your Cable shouldnt be an issue at all. Like I said earlier if you keep having a problem call Time Warner and explain the situation and tell them where your having problems. Tell them where the problem is when you do a tracert and maybe they can put you on a different router. I know they will tell you that when you leave there network they can't be responsible for any packet loss but if it were me I would be complaining everyday until they resolved the problem. When I was having the problems with my computer and thought it was packet loss I had AT&T run a direct line from the box outside my house to my computer room and when that didnt fix the problem they put me on a different circuit and when that didnt fix it they moved me to a new circuit that was 5000' closer to my house. Of course the problem was never them it was my damn Power supply but I sure as heck wasnt telling them that.SavageDogg wrote:I see. I am using Cable Broadband, Time Warners' Road Runner. I'm sorry for bumping this thread, but I have the same problem as the OP. I thought it would be less on a server with a lower ping, however it didn't help. So I ran a ping plotter and here are the results:

Is there anything I can do about it? I'd call my ISP, but their customer service is slow and weak (typical "There's nothing wrong" response). I see that the report is a bit disorganised. To make it easy, hop 3 has 11 errors and a 22% PL and hop 2 has 1 error and a 2% PL. It was actually a bit worse when I ran it before, an hour ago.

Unless it's in house your isp can really not do a whole lot about it .
If it's generating errors, my bet is just given alittle time it will probably fix itself . Atleast it will appear that way to you when it starts working right again .
