A useful feature would be to see the current live player count and total player count similar to that in Last Man Standing. The current player count could be color coded depending on the percentage of players alive: green means 67-100% alive, yellow 34-66% alive, red 1-33% alive, and flashing red if only one player is left. Maybe also show the current color coded monster level in the HUD like green <= 150, yellow 151-300, and red > 300. Maybe even the wave number could be shown.
The idea is to give players vital feedback. If 6/6 players are alive and the monster level is green then things may be just peachy. However if 6/20 are alive, the monster level is red, and wave 15 just started on Akbal then the feedback may be critical to survival.
Hopefully this would be fairly simple to implement (infamous last words).
Another more involved idea is to summarize on the HUD the live player list by name. Again color coding could indicate their health status (green = good, yellow = warning, red = critical). Probably it would be most useful for medics and others willing to help out with a healing weapon. To keep medics busy (and Wail busy coding, lol) a proximity icon could show each player's relative distance so a medic would know if a critical player is nearby or across the map: green = near, yellow = midfield, red = far.
Feature suggestions for HUD

I do kind of like those first two paragraphs. I have often been caught trying to roll weapons while fighting, when the current conditions may not be so good for that sort of thing. This would be a good warning of when I really need to use a globe or not as well.Seven_of_69 wrote:A useful feature would be to see the current live player count and total player count similar to that in Last Man Standing. As for the list of names on the HUD, I''m not so into that one. I don't like a really crowded HUD. The more I can see that isn't crowded by various icons, the better.
As for the health thing, I don't really like the list hing, but maybe something similar to the medic thing on TF2. When someone uses the "Medic" taunt thing, a little health icon could appear above their head, which is viewable to other players through walls. This would make things more complicated though

I hear ya. I too am often (mis)using adren, not realizing that I should be saving it for my globe.
The name list with health on the HUD is tough one because it would contain vital data but with 20 players it would be a very busy display. Maybe it could be added to the scoreboard list so it's available but only upon demand. But if it's not readily available, would anyone use it?
The health icon above a player's head wouldn't need to show through walls. Besides the health icon, the medic "taunt" could give directional info with a 3D arrow though in practice I don't know how useful/helpful it would be.

Some good ideas. I do have some stuff I would like to do with the HUD/Scoreboard, but basically anything like that I think is going to require building in a toggle option for people who do/don't want it. Need to think about this some more.
I guess you can always place these options in the insert menu.WailofSuicide wrote:...but basically anything like that I think is going to require building in a toggle option for people who do/don't want it. Need to think about this some more.
The difference between successful people from others is
not in the lack of strength,
not in the lack of knowledge,
but rather in the lack of will.

Yes that's what I was referring to.DW_Ant wrote:I guess you can always place these options in the insert menu.WailofSuicide wrote:...but basically anything like that I think is going to require building in a toggle option for people who do/don't want it. Need to think about this some more.
along with medics maby u could use the player list thing to give adren masters the ability to send like a 100 adren boost and weapon masters double damage? that way everyone can use it if they wish....i could see this being a boring day for wail but it would be interesting....
