Hi everyone. I just recently reinstalled UT2k4 and went to see what the invasion servers had to offer. I had quit after the old Unreal Insanity servers died off (I lost a level 300 medic and a few level 150 characters). I had about 6 maps on that server that I'm sure if any of you played on you would remember. I'd like to offer them up to the community to do what ever they wish with them.

Blood storm
Defend yourself
Lucifer's Arena
Claustrophobia
Clock work
Suicide box

I'll upload them as soon as I find where you do so at.

A bit about me:
Well, it's easier to get this out of the way now. I'm a transsexual, I was born male and I'm going to undergo a long process that will involve taking hormones and people's flak the rest of my life. I don't make maps on ut2k4 anymore, but if I get hooked on your servers I might start back. I play a lot of different games, including Garry's mod, Half life series, UT3, UT 99, Starcraft, and Warcraft III.

You can call me Dia, Kate, or what ever suits you. :P

Welcome Dia, talked with you in game, glad you decided to drop by the boards. Nice to see you reinstalled UT2004, the community of invasion did not die it just shifted to the MM1 and MM2 servers. Don't worry we have enough characters to accommodate, all types of people. No judgment from me it's the game we play and the fun we have playing it!

By the way get file front account and upload to it and then post the link to your maps, that would be the easiest way for the mappers to get a look at it and get them on faster!

Welcome to the games Dia. I don't remember you from UI but you may have played under a different name. Glad you got the game reinstalled and hope you enjoy the fun.

I'm not use to such an awesome welcome. My forum experience is with trolls and various other 8 year olds on their way to making nothing of their lives. :(.

Here is a link to the maps.

http://files.filefront.com/Diarrehas+ma ... einfo.html

The pack includes
Blood storm
Suicide box
Defend yourself
Clockwork
Claustrophobia
Lucifer's Arena (This map might break one of the guidelines that your server has. I used a static mesh from an external package that came with the map Blackhawk. If it isn't on the server than this map will not work.)

Fixed maps included:
albatross
Irondust
Bikini Bottom
Blackhawk (Not my map, but it was on the UI servers. Might not work as it had a few files that I don't have to go with it.)
Grendel Keep
Flux2
Training day

The fixed maps are stock maps and other maps that were on UI that I fixed various glitches in. They all start with UIGF (Unreal Insanity Glitch Fix) but you're welcome to remove that since this isn't UI.

Lucifer's arena and Black hawk might not work right as well.

Welcome to the boards, Dia!

Good to see you're revisiting an old friend in UT2k4! Thanks for the info on your maps. We've got a great group of mappers in the community and we'll have a look at your goodies! ;)

Sorry for the delay. I had a really busy weekend with the wedding stuff, but I should be available some time this week if it rains some more.

First thing....
I can't see Lucifer's Arena because of a missing package: 'RapdwnMesh'

Another thing to mention is that you should change your Lucifer's Arena name to Lucifer'sArena or Lucifer's_Arena. When you download files with a space, you'll actually download "DM-Lucifer's"

Now for some criticism...
DM-(Inv)-Claustrophobia
I doubt this map will be a good map to play. Either one of two things will happen:
Server is low on players & it'll be very difficult to battle monsters without being pushed into the lava.
-or-
The server is full and it'll become a very boring game, and two or three wms will steal all the kills with the mine layers. Players will end up standing still for 30 minutes of boredom until things will heat up.

The lighting looks excellent, and the atmosphere is fitting. The lava texture may be a bit large, but overall the visual aspect of this map is great.

Last thing for this map is that you need to place pathnodes here. I understand that monsters may spawn on the navigation pickups, but that's not enough nav points at the rate the monsters spawn in. You'll need to cram your level with pathnodes. I know this will be difficult to do, but you should place a hundred nodes in that tiny map.

I high recommend that you should scale up your map by 100% or 200% for better gameplay.

Dm-(INV)-Clockworkv2
A unique map indeed. Who would of imagined that you'll be fighting inside a clock? I really enjoyed the turning gadgets that supports the idea that you're inside a clock.

This is my favorite map in terms of gameplay. The loops and levels of the clock box is going to work very well in game, however just like the previous map, you need more pathnodes. Monsters will be to sparse and you should triple the amount of pathnodes to make them spawn normally.

The downfall of this unique map is the look. I imagine after 20 minutes of play time, you'll become tired of wood. I understand that you're inside a clock, but it wouldn't hurt if ya diversify the textures a bit. It'll look much better if ya add some scraps of metal or better yet add some neat pieces like nuts 'n bolts.

Some of the corners are a bit dark for me. You could add some interesting shadows through the doorways, too ;)

DM-(Inv)-DefendYourselfV5
My brother and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It reminded us of Quake Arena because of the architecture, texture usage, and lighting. I'm also pleased to see that monsters spawn at a great rate here.

Biggest negative for this map is the pickups. I'm estimating that the single row of mini health vials will add about 50 channels. Seeing that there's about 200 health vials and a hundred adrenaline pills, that's 300 channels simply on the pickups. For some clarification on channels check out this link (read the second post ;)

I believe that all of the pickups are the cause of the frame issue. I'm sure if you replace all the pickups into a couple large pills and health kegs should boost your frame rates by 50-100%!

Dm-(inv)-SuicideBoxV3.1
Great usage of the warpzone! I'm suffering on the frames alittle bit so it'll be better if you zoned out the map ;)

Same with the DefendYourself, you went excessive with the pickups. It'll be better if ya replaced these small pickups with one or two kegs.

You could triple the amount of pathnodes. The monsters are a bit too sparse for my taste.

DM-(Inv)Bloodstorm
I've seen this map a long time ago. I believe this was my second map I've ever played on RPG invasion (outside of MM). All of the action went up to the roof. I believe the inside is too small for any monster to spawn inside. Just increase the scale by a 100% should do the trick so you can share some of the action inside. I'm not sure if you're lacking pathnodes or not. Just to be safe, you should place at least a hundred pathnodes.

The lighting may be a bit dark to see where you are going, but don't change the coronas; you've done a great job on the coronas!

BTW, you're missing a hyphen in the title ;)

I'll provide feedback on the modified maps on a later day, but I hope this information helped ya out.
