This sounds good in theory, but in reality it doesn't work so well.
Resupply weps don't resupply your other weps (last I knew) and they kinda suck IMO.
Does the resupply prism work? (It never has last I knew).
If you buy ammo bonus your gonna end up with a very weak medic that dies alot. And ammo bonus isn't all that great (particularly when compared to resupply). I'd rather have 1 level of resupply than 200 more points in ammo bonus. For a medic to get any where near the benefit that WMs and AMs get from resupply they have to spend MANY hundreds of stat points.
Lockers and ammo pickups DO work on SOME maps with SOME weps. On small maps like crumpet or pathogen you can run around and hit the lockers and keep up ammo for a shock or flack etc. (if you have a bit of ammo bonus already), but it wont work on most maps or with fast firing weps.

If you want to build a strong character and be competitive then you have to sacrifice weapon variety. If you want to use a variety of weapons your better off choosing a different class.
As Frankie wrote in his first post, he uses the weapon best suited for the situation. Unfortunately 9 out of 10 times the best weapon for a medic to use is the medic weapon (or at least they'll be switching back to it shortly).

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who read binary, and everyone else.
4013 is only a FAD
And 2989? Well that's just BAD

Agreed with your general point however I will note two things:

Reloading weapons do restore ammo for your other weapons as long as they are held. Though how useful this ends up being is going to vary - Reloading MP5? Not all that useful. Reloading LtG or Mine Layer? Good swap weapons. Although I'd also mention that these aren't going to let you run out and Triple+Globe like AM/WM, since you're using your weapon slot for ammo regeneration instead of raw killing power (-> adren gain) or adren gain.

Resupply prism does work (at least for non-purchased-Resupply players), but the way it functions is kind of unusual. In order to get a lot of benefit from this item you are going to want 300-400 adrenaline as the strength of the effect relies directly on how much adrenaline it uses up when you activate it. From what I can tell this is more adrenaline than your average medic is going to have, so you actually need to build your character in that direction to effectively take advantage of it. It also needs a status indictator for people to show them it's working, as it's kind of impractical without it.

The overreaching issue to me is, in a setup where all non-class-restricted abilities are purchasable given enough time spent grinding the question is less about "How many points were spent?" and more about "Is this possible at all (for a class)?" As Brain points out, I think most Medics would, if given the choice, pay exorbitant (200+ stat points per level) prices for Resupply. I know I would, anyway. The flip side of that coin is having an infinite weapon on demand, which is certainly worth more than the 10 points a level 25 Medic pays for it but is probably not worth 800+ points, especially not when Resupply gives you effectively infinite ammo (as long as you're actually ATK and competent enough to switch weapons occasionally).

I have never used the resupply prism. I don't know if this would be desirable or not but as a suggestion, would it be possible to use multiple prisms? Assuming that the first prism gives resupply level 1, up to four prisms could be used to give the equivalent of resupply 4. But the question is, would that be too much? Would medics forget to be medics? IMO they'd essentially become WM's with no vamp ability but with medic skills. So maybe it's not a good idea.

Also if the amount that the resupply prism grants is based on the adren count used to activate it, you probably wouldn't want to have multiple prisms in effect.
