Well guys, hit up a friends compy and thought I'd let you all know I'm still alive. Been fighting tooth and nail with the post office over the "laptop problem", but it should be resolved within the next week, two tops. As soon as it comes through and I add my own lil nest egg to the pot (putting the worst case ((I hope)) at another month), I should have enough to replace my desktop that took a fall. I'm too busy to build my own as I'd hoped, but I'm having the guys from ibuypower do a build for me and thought I'd run the specs by you guys to see your opinions.

The 955 is an AM3 part pairing it with an AM2 motherboard and ddr2 ram is holding back performance and also the full potential of the experiance. You move to the Dragon platform by purchasing a AMD card. AMD chipset, card and CPU. Best performance marks in gaming. Droping in the Nvida 250 does not take advantage of the whole platform. especially when the 250 is just a rebranded 8800gt. which the 4870 kills, at same price point.DW_Savage wrote:I don't see the problem. explain please, Acy?
Ranji, it helps if you gave us a price of all this stuff. What is it gonna cost?

No shame, no dishonor, will run away to fight another day!

Agreed, you'd be very happy to replace the GT250 with an AMD/ATi 4870, but I'm not familiar with the AM3 Socket and whatnot. I've seen some interesting stuff with the Dragon platform though, I'm sure it's worth taking a look.DW_ACY wrote:The 955 is an AM3 part pairing it with an AM2 motherboard and ddr2 ram is holding back performance and also the full potential of the experiance. This is a matter of preference, but I 'd never buy non-brand name speaker systems. In my experience, if it's expensive, it's a rip. if it's cheap, you get what you paid for. I'd just get the cheapest logitech 2.0 speakers I could find, and invest in a very nice headset. That's the way I would do it anyways.

the compy's runnin 950.... as for ram its supposed to support ddr3... i could get a radeon hd 4850 card instead if you all hate nvidia that much. i went with it because i thought that its what win7 recommends... btw i apologize for horrible punctuation & grammar but mini 3 isnt giving my phone much

Not a matter of hating nVidia, just that what they offer right now isn't as cost effecient as AMD.Ranji wrote:the compy's runnin 950.... as for ram its supposed to support ddr3... i could get a radeon hd 4850 card instead if you all hate nvidia that much. i went with it because i thought that its what win7 recommends... btw i apologize for horrible punctuation & grammar but mini 3 isnt giving my phone much
