How about just giving us weighted votes then.

Set it so that how ever many points you have in game... is how many votes you have to vote with.

It provides an incentive for everyone to rock. And it rewards exceptional play.

It should in theory not award any small number of players with the options to pick maps unless there's a very large disparity in points... which should demonstrate that there is either team stacking... or a poorly designed map. In either situation all the map voting in the world isn't going to undo the greater problems at stake.

C'mon... you know you want to.

To me, that sounds like discrimination against players lacking skill. I'll like to see new players have a voice in the map voting system as well.

& it is a bit unjust since you don't get much points for supporting your team as well as simply going on the offense.
Linking vehicles, or simply going on defense doesn't help you out in improving your score.

People lose connection quite frequently, and they'll lose their score when they reconnect.
The difference between successful people from others is
not in the lack of strength,
not in the lack of knowledge,
but rather in the lack of will.

DW_Ant I don't see it as discriminatory so much as a meritocracy. What is more american than a meritocracy? The idea that the best of the best rise to the top based on their own merits ensures that our captains of industry and government as the best people for the job.

In theory a new player won't know which maps are good or bad, but a seasoned player will know the maps and be able to make a more informed decision on which map everyone will enjoy the most.

It seems to me that relying on mob rule versus a structured voting system tiered on merit is contradictory to the goal of providing the most entertaining experience possible on DW.

It seems to me that we've got a pretty good grip on that situation, seeing as how our servers are rated in the 100th and 99th percentile.

And I agree with Ant, in that a weighted vote would discourage anyone from playing valuable support roles, as at the end of the game they wouldn't be able to cast much of a vote compared to someone who just ran around TDMing instead of building/defending nodes, or linking vehicles, etc.

I disagree. I unlike ST when point raping actually take and build nodes providing strategic forward defense and support. The simple fact is if you want to stat rape... first you have to control the map. So it suffices to say that those seeking simply to stat pad will in fact fill support roles far better than noobish players.

In fact most noobish players will likely accidently work against their team by wasting valuable resources such as vehicles, kegs, dd, and special weapons on targets of low priority.

I mean I understand you have your pre-conceptions and you have drawn them likely from a correlation. What I am saying is your correlation does not match up to your assumed causation and that my paradigm may fit your needs better than you realize.

Consider it. Roll it around on the tongue... take some time. Sleep on it. Get back to me when you feel you've given it some good deep healthy thought.

That's all I ask.

I'll do that. I'll include this with my hundreds of other things to think during my sleeping time. I'll let you know what I thought.

If by the end you think my idea included beautiful twins... exploding planets... and pink elephants on parade... assume that I did in fact imply that all of that was included.

I propose a new challenge.

The challenge is everyone must ignore this thread. The first person to fail at ignoring this thread either by viewing the thread or by posting in it loses. If you win the challenge you may select up to one map to be added or removed from Spam Vikings. If you lose the challenge you must delete yourself.
