I was wondering what would happen if there were no low level players on INV servers anymore?

It happened sometimes that the lowest player's level was around 200 - 250 and I played with a new nickname to make monsters "low" , so we could play it normally.

Nothing special, I just hate situations like this ...

If there were no leveling,
then...
1. People will run short of ammo (since most ammo isn't even supplied in maps)
2. People will not use the mp5 (since assault rifle ammo doesn't provide ammo for mp5)
3. Magic weapons will be much tougher to roll (no unbreakable mwm from AMs, mwm must be found through monster drops)
4. People will find no use to idle
5. People won't be as committed to reach to Luci wave
6. People won't link as much
7. People won't mine spam as much
8. People can't globe tank
9. wms would be asking for vampirism
10. Infinites and reloading will become very popular.
11. Energy popularity will drop
12. No Recall means no saving weapons
13. Assuming players are committed to reach luci wave, players will become very skillful in dodge tanking.
14. Weapons will diversify (lose ammo on one gun, time to switch weapons)
15. Health packs and super shields become useful
16. No worries about a level 25 player placing points into Ultima
17. Everyone will be hiding by wave 8
18. Monsters always win!
19. The miniboss becomes a pain in the neck.
20. The server becomes communist.

Hasn't the minboss been made a pain in the * yet? Even with the low levels. I mean now he can kill anything in 1 shot?

The monster level adjusting way upwards is one feature i could do without. it is totally not fun at all when it happens, and tends sucks all the joy (for me) out of the invasion experience for that wave. wht can i say i just don't like it. currently it's manageable because thr's still plenty of low level people, but if the day comes when no one is low level anymore, then i hope the admins will either remove this feature or at least scale it down, otherwise imo the server will die cause no one will want to play. anyways, that's a long way off, things r ok at the momment imo.
as long as the monster level spikes are *occassional*, it's ok and offers an interesting challenge. i think it helps to keep some balance in the server, as some people have real high levels and it keeps the game challenging for them and helps to put some restrictions on them. occasional is fine, i just hope it doens't become the norm.

Save from a few maps, the mini boss does normal damage, not one shot kill.
You prefer a miniboss that stands there blasting people away doing 2 damage? I don't believe in free xp?

I find it unjust to decrease the monsters strength only to keep the monster level down. For x many years, it's been like this, I don't see why it should drop. It's seems to be a bit unfair for all the players who'd played MM earlier should now be at a handicap today. There will always be a low level around. Think about it, when there isn't a low level present, why not bring your low level?

LOL.

Yeah, well some server out there have the "monster's adjustement factor" Off. (You can see it in the web browser info).

Our server have this turn on to add more chalenge. Fortunatly the chance to have only high level player and no low level is low. Let's say that 99% of the time, there is always enaugh low level in Monster Mash to maintain the monster at a low level (that's a refief).

But yes, Ant is right, in the case only high level player are there then they have no chance to win. One basic principle in MM is to keep the noobies alive and share the energy weapon with other players for increaing the team survival chance and therefore your own.
I got the reflex of the fly, now catch me if you can!

High monster levels is one reason I prefer to play my AM over my WM. My AM has a pretty good chance of getting a vorpal shock/lg/sniper and/or piercing of almost any weapon, with the obvious benefit of keeping those weapons with recall.

Piercing has been useful on countless occasions. One time in particular, there were only 4 players on Terrigan, all high levels of at least 200-250-ish. I was the only AM and there was either 1 WM and 2 medics or 2 WMs and one medic. When I made and shared piercing mines+10, all 4 of us were able to continue killing monsters and make it to Luci. Before the piercing mines, no one was doing much damage nor getting much if any XP.

Also I have found that a good piercing weapon+22 can dole out a lot of damage, especially if it's splash damage from rockets, mines, or MP5 grenades. Even regular piercing grenades will do damage wonders.

IMO piercing weapons should be shared and copied just like energy.

So, if that's the case, why don't make piercing weapons a bit stronger?

And BTW, good answer tasty ^^
