Ok Ant, hopefully that's it for this map, because Honestly I have had enough of it...
I can't stand it anymore, so much in fact, that I'm not even playing it on my own computer... and I don't want to edit it anymore, unless it's something benign that will only take a few minutes.
I did all the changes and reduced all the possible terrain, checked for glitches, and all the other stuff.
I keep everything in a notepad, and tick the changes as I go along.
Checked everything.

It shouldn't come to this point. When or if it does, that means you weren't really committed to this project. Your will to this reflects in how much care you have for the map.Nelsoncarmo26 wrote:Ok Ant, hopefully that's it for this map, because Honestly I have had enough of it...

Maybe you could be just getting tired of making slight tweaks, and wait for a reply a couple days later. Then the feedback you get in return is something you can't really see through our eyes. If that's the case, I would recommend jumping on vent for live feedback and see how your maps play on the test server (very similar to the MM servers). Hopefully this way you could see why the standards are high, and understand why these things are addressed.
Dynadin just popped in yesterday. Made the testing process much easier and faster than waiting for replies through the forums. I'm hoping whenever he checks this post, he could add his thoughts about it.
Before you state the common excuses:
You can easily obtain a mic for 10 bucks off of NewEgg
You can download vent for free
Depending on research time on your mic, this will only take 5-20 minutes
Okay concerning your map:
- We do see your effort in reducing the size of the map. It's still on the borderline, but it could be accepted.
- Only fixes that needs to be checked is that you forgot to move the blocking volumes over the steep terrain hills. Now players could trans over there and get into spots that doesn't look like they should be getting to.
- The killing volumes on the bottom should be touching the bottom. It wouldn't hurt to increase the damage per second > 40.
The difference between successful people from others is
not in the lack of strength,
not in the lack of knowledge,
but rather in the lack of will.

As much as I hate to agree to Ant's fanatical obsession of map tweaking ... being on the test server is a lot different from on single player. It actually helps a lot, for example a load of my emitters that work perfectly on my computer don't do a sodding thing on the server, the miniboss doesn't spawn where it should and places I could get to ... for some reason couldn't. When Ant says something it is generally true (although we all want to poke him in the eye, kick him in the nuts and tattoo 'shut up' on his forhead :swink:)
To bring about the end you have to start at the beginning.

Ok Ant,
>Moved the blocking volumes closer to the playable area, so people don't go where they shouldn't.
>Moved Kill volumes to bottom, and changed damage to 200 per second... there's no escape from that one.
Well, take a look when you can.
Thanks Ant.

The only problem with your own server for testing is the lack of DW rpg surely? This got explainted to me a bit when I was asking about mutators and events on the server and one of the things is that the maps/mutators have to work with all the additions they have as standard and if your test server doesnt have them then it defeats the point a bit :P But getting Vent and chatting does help more than you'd think :)Nelsoncarmo26 wrote:Yeah...
Well, I also tried my own server for testing purposes, but no one would join, and so I can't get no feedback.
Besides my site keeps going offline, and can't access my own stuff, and therefore can't do much.
Right, I'll get on with the twaks.

That's why I've been asking where I can download all the stuff this server uses... for the sole purpose that when I test my maps, then it will be just like it.
Well, for the exception that on the server players are humans, and when I test them, they are bots... can't get feedback from bots.
Anyway, is this map ready for the server or what?

Dude i have just got to say this because your maps are bugging the hell outta me, Most of your maps "taking Seasons and this Time one" They are NOT good for the gameplay of invasion, they are ridiculously stupid to find around, especially on lucifer, one moment your shooting lucifer then your spending the full luci wave trying to find where the hell he disappeared off to... Invasion maps SHOULD NOT Contain teleports to multiple zones, it completely screws up the game style, The way you are mapping is more suited to games like UT99's Monster Hunt.. They can contain multiple teleports to random zones, but Deathmatch/Invasion/CTF/ONS, etc... These should NOT contain teleports because it majorly screws everything up, you spend half the time trying to find things that only move when you find them anyway.
On a better note though just for evening this out, the map looks rather good, its just the gameplay is completely... well crap to be honest.

Your opinion mate. It means that all the maps are not generic ... the odd map with teleports is no problem at all in my opinion. Really there should be more, we need to get out of this 'one box' craze.Renegade_masta wrote:Dude i have just got to say this because your maps are bugging the hell outta me, Most of your maps "taking Seasons and this Time one" They are NOT good for the gameplay of invasion, they are ridiculously stupid to find around, especially on lucifer, one moment your shooting lucifer then your spending the full luci wave trying to find where the hell he disappeared off to... Indeed Dynadin.
You said it...
Besides, when you play invasion, you're not playing on your own, there are average ten other players... at least, and you can spread out and find the monsters.
I have played the map so many times, and never had any problems finding the monsters.
What you really mean renegade, is that you like to hide in your safe spot, and know that if you get out you're gonna die... so you don't want to leave your safe spot to go look for the monsters!
If that's the case... well, then just carry on, but please don't try to dictate what the server needs, and even less tell me how I should make my own god damn maps.
Most of the DW members already said the map is good, and so did dynadin who is also a mapper, so I think democracy wins over dictatorship.
Thank you, have a nice day.
