What, the homing missiles couldn't be aimed high enough to get the Hammerhead? Also...yeah, I do remember they're vulnerable to knockback. I've never played them with shocks ingame, but I've played them with Arkon weapons, and it's kinda funny what a Hammerhead does when hit with a Mass Driver (180-degree spin, sometimes, plus a real shake-up). I hope it's as fun as you say...I think flying tanks will go a long way to stop that Minotaur.

Hey Guys, I just played this map with a full server last night and I had a blast!

I spent most of my time in the flying tanks, damn those are fun! I was able to get three nodes charged upin a row by flying in, charging as fast as I could, then flying to the next node. I've gotten used to flying with them, though I'm still not used to the limited cone of fire (Can't shoot anything that below it, which sucks, since I have to bascially be grounded to blast a node)

What's great about the flying tanks is that they utilize a part of MinusTankMeUp that couldn't be used before: rooftops. At one point, my tanks was down to 90-something armor points thanks to a ton of shock fire and a lucky shot from a tank. I was able to land on a rooftop and use my fulll link gun to heal the tank. Another time I wasn't able to save the tank, but I was able to bail out onto a roof. I stayed there for three minutes, and I was able to take out a node with my rockets and two tanks with my shock rifle before another flyer tank caught on and blasted the crap outta me.

I've notice I've become a lot more skilled with the shock rifle since the flying tanks arrived. During the second round, my tank was hurting bad from too many shock hits, so I landed on a roof to heal. Before I had a chance to get out my link gun, though, another flying tank charged in for the kill. I was able to fend him off with my shock rifle and when he insisted on continuing, I was able to shoot him out of the sky!

One of my favorite parts during the game was when the Blue core was vulnerable and I flew there with my tank. I got hit with lots of shock, though, so I bailed out onto the roof of the blue base. My tank was barely alive, but luckily I had full heath. I was about to sneak down to the lower level to blast the core, but behind an enemy flying tank suddenly appeared. I got out my shock rifle, but appearently the pilot wanted some hand to hand combat, because he bailed out. Unfortunatly for him, he already had low heath and he splattered on the roof! By that time the blue core had locked up, so I loaded my barely alive tank with grenates and hijacked the blue tank. Sweet success!

As great as that was, my favorite of the game was when I was in a flying tank and I had to defend against three enemy flying tanks (appearently one of ours had gotten hijacked). A mid air battle with flying tanks is about as useless as a midair battle with Cicadas. None of the tanks could hit me, and I couldn't hit them. BTW, the miniguns on the tank are useless. I switched them on and blasted away, but I don't think it did any good. Anyway, after about a minute of flying, I suddenly -- to the shock of everyone involved, got and Eagle Eye and shot one of the flying tanks out of the air. W00t. Unfortunately, I was taking some pretty bad shock fire from below, so I bailed out onto a rooftop. Armed with my shock rife, I was able to defend against two flying tanks, and got them both (with no ammo to spare)!

Anyway, sorry about the huge post, I just wanted to say what a great time I had last night. I really enjoy this map.

PS -- my final score was 108 -- and I was near the bottom. LOL!

Thank you very much for your comments AJAXX. Always nice to be apprieciated. If you find something about a map you dont like dont be afraid to point it out though. There are one or two things on TankMeUp that could have been improved but you have to call it a day at some stage.

Yea i agree the mini on there is almost useless. Imo there are various tweaks to be done. The centuar needs to have more firepower also. Especially since we cant easily defend ourselves and that vehicle is huge.

The current version of TankMeUp is good, but there is room for a few improvements.

First off, the Hammerhead needs some modification. Either replace the miniguns with something more powerful, or remove them completely. I think a Hammerhead with only one type of firepower but with a bigger cone of fire (as in, the barrel can point down) would be cool.

Second, it might be cool to add some powerups to the roofs. Nothing much, just maybe a health pack here, a shock rife weapon base there, and a link gun weapon base somewhere else. Nothing high-powered, just a little something to give the Hammerhead drivers to look for.

That's all I can think of right now.

I am really enjoying the Gorz MinusTankMeUp as well. It's a pretty nice and refreshing change from all the standard vehicles, but its got its own unique twists and balancing. I have to agree with Ajaxx that I don't see the Hammerheads being effective -- Usually I see them flying around, whip out the shock rifle and send them bouncing around.

It might be more effective to give the Hammerhead some markerlights instead of the tank shell thing it's got now. Turn it into a Sky Ray!

Oh, and just so you know, the Chain Guns that are on the front fins are actually machine gun drones that can detach in combat to distract fire from the main vehicle. I don't expect you to do anything that elaborate, but I think it justifies putting a second seat on the thing to control the machine guns.

Ok, going to reopen this one and see if we can make something really special. If anyone can model and bone the skyray then I shall add the code. I want the tank theme to stay though. So what have we got so far?

Increase Centaur power. Do something with the hammerhead miniguns. Anyone think there should be more hammerheads?

Any chance of making the Hammerhead a two-seater? Gets awful lonely up there in the sky and on the rooftops charging. Sure could use a Goose to my Maverick. Or vice versa.

Duh...just saw that Wail already made note of this. Well consider this a second.

One or two more would be great. The hammerheads are my favorite vehicle of Tank Me Up. I'm not too much of a tank person (too slow for my tastes) so the Hammerhead is a nice alternate. Unfortunately, they aren't always around to hop into, so putting two around the center nodes would be cool.

I agree making the Hammerhead a two seater would be great. As sweaters said, it gets pretty lonely up there.

I'd prefer to have the Hammerhead remain as a "tank-like" vehicle. This is TankMeUp, after all. The model Wail posted would make a great vehicle, but don't replace the Hammerhead. The above vehicle is more like a Cicada and less like a tank.
