Almost everything I'm about to say has already been said but I still want to express my displeasure with the new monsters and wave configurations. The dinos are really boring - their DR and HP are crazy high and it is not rewarding at all to kill them - no xp/adren/score. Most of them don't even attack(or take like 10 days to do so during which either the dino has died or the player has moved away). Also the dinos might be cool-looking, but as most of you know my computer is made out of wood and I have to run UT on lowest settings. On lowest settings the dinos do not only look bad but they look the worst out of ALL monsters so I don't even get the eyecandy benefit.
What's bugging me the most is the xp thing. The other day I was running around for at least half the game with a vorpal +22 and I got WAY more(more than 1.5 times as much) xp than I do normally. I scored 11.6k - almost what Corky scored and I was using a weapon that doesn't give you any damn score. Of course I killed titans, seekers and queens with my other weapons, but I used the vorpal on literally everything else. Right now, the best weapon set for an AM is vorpal shock, petri MP5 and a vamp minigun/mines. Rolling any other weapons will cut into your xp and score too much(not that you'll get that much anyway) because since the monsters don't give adren, there's no way to roll a decent weapon set on time for the tougher waves if you're runnin' and gunnin' on the easy ones.
As for the wave configurations, I kind of like waves 1-4 (though they need to be a bit tougher). I like the small monsters in the beginning - a little bit of target practice getting you warmed up for the later waves. Waves 5-9 are again not hard enough but they aren't fun. Mostly because the boring and unkillable dinos start appearing more and more frequently. Wave 10 is nuts! It is either the hardest or the second hardest wave. If the wave is kept the same it should go to 14 or 15. I'm not a huge fan of the beamlords/rocketlords but that's only because the sound they make when they shoot annoys me(but that's might be because theres 1000000 beamlords that no one shoots at because they can't hit them in the air). Otherwise I think they're great.
Lastly, I think the server will lose a lot of regular players if the waves stay like this.

I've been tinking about this matter too: What about player with low fps (like Mr. Dick) or low ping. You can bet it's not easy to target fast moving flying target for them.
I go with Mr.Dick, I like the deemer and energy wailord too, but in a reasonable number. By that i mean no more then 1 species per wave and flying monsters should be present in every 2 waves. Righ now, there just too much of them!

I'm glad many of the original monster have been resorted. But ever since the update the server has taken a nose dive. Franky has the right idea on what need to be done. Except for removing the Advanced WOSEnergyLord on wave 15. Come on now Franky. :stongue: But they do need to be toned down a little. The adrenaline masters need some breathing room.
The Ankylosaurus should be moved to wave 2 and only kept on that wave. They're not all that challenging even to those of lower rank.
Queens are another major factor where the server is lacking in. They have always held large roles in the servers game play since day one. So why take that away?
Over all the dinos are a nice audition to the server. Just over kill with the current setup.

Well I just want more advanced seekers then wailord. With 2 waillord species taking all the place in the sky it leave very few space for the seekers. The dinos are in low detail. They came from a PS2 game. I liked things the way they were before.
I adjusted the dinos stats @home computer, but no matter what I did, they still werent a challenge.
Even with a 20,000 attack, they could kill you with one bite, but still very boring.
So I figured, it's not about their health or strenght factors, it's... the dinos suck, period!
Sorry, no offence to the author, who happens to be the best there is in terms of monster modeler for ut2004.
But the dino's animations, textures, and attributes are not good, and need a hell of a lot of coding and tweaking.
So I removed them from my personal monster pack.
Like I stated before, I now have 2 empty waves, and need more monsters.
If you guys want a challenge for the server, i advise you to get the Doom monster pack and the dragons from the same author (Shaun Goeppinger).
He has done some neat monsters, I wonder why you guys opted for the dinos?!
Last but not least, I would like the name and link for the monsters you guys used to have on wave 5, if I'm not mistaken?!
The floating eyes, the mole, the reptile creature, the mammoth like thingy, the titans that throw rocks the same colour as the floor texture, and the so famous... or should I say imfamous seeker please.

I can get the monsters from the cache extractor, but that would not be any good, if i don't know the name of the pack and the monsters.

some more thoughts. i really miss a sky full of seekers. they r challenging to take out and they damage you a lot, which for me is fun fun. would like to see one wave with lots of seekers. dunno if seekers r bugged like the sandwich titans are and having many of them is not good? anyways, it like a shooting gallery in the sky and you have to keep moving and shooting and doing this with mp5(no petri, just using skill) or mini is so dang fun.
so, i like lots of flying things, personally, but can understand why others don like it.
as for the nrg warlords i am liking them, they r also very hard to hit, but seem to pose a lesser threat than the seekers. they pose there own challenges however and seem to have really good aerial moves so one wave full of lots of them could be really fun. at least, for me it would, i noe others prob not like it.
whatever you do, i hope the final result will have one or two 'sky shooting gallery' waves. they are Da Bomb for me and make me say Oh Snap.
me agree about cutting down # of dinos. one suggestion would be to keep the trex and his bigger buddy, reduce their DR, up their damage inflicted so they hit like raptors, and make em charge more. also, they are reducing the number of titans so maybe move em to other waves so that we still have waves with lots of titans like we used to. 'dino wave' idea mentioned in other post has a lot of merit. titan bashing is fun. say what you want against it, but it's still fun, and fun keeps us coming back. when i get in a field full of titans and i am not using globe, i can tell you, my heart literally races. i really miss that rush. current setup doesn't do that for me.
now one cool thing i've seen in the past are specialized waves. for example, in an old ut2003 server they had wave 13 to be nali cows and lightning mercs. the cows would pile up on you up close, while the mercs would keep their distance and hit you from afar. one of the most challenging and fun waves i have ever seen, just using two monsters. freaking nali cow was actually dangerous lol. then another wave would be just fireball ball throwing red guys, and so on, and it was just wave after wave of this kind of thing. would luv to see more stuff like that, makes for really interesting games. i really enjoyed the old wave that had pretty much just titans and angus, for example.

Actually they pose a very higher threat than the seekers in a different way. They don't do alot of damage, but their energy blast (from the adv. EnergyLord) and their rocket blast (from the adv. RocketLord) DRAIN YOUR ADRENALINE. So at some occasion (Like all the newbies are hiding on an wide-open map), they thend to accumulate in the sky (since no one shoot them cause all the noobs are hiding), and that's when you can see your adrenaline droped from 300 to 0 in less then 3 seconds whitout using any artifact, so immagine try to globe there... Hopefully only the Advanced wailord species do that (in wave 10, 14 and 15).as for the nrg warlords i am liking them, they r also very hard to hit, but seem to pose a lesser threat than the seekers.
My main point is:
In a reasonable number then wont accumulate to screw up ur adrenaline, but add to much of them and that's when it can be bad on some conditions (Wide open maps, just noobs except you... the list continue but let's stop there). Of course if alot of medium or high level players are connected and are running in the field killing them, then they wont accumulate and this event wont be reproduced. But if their is only 1, 2 or 3 people running in the field while all others are noobs just hiding.... well pray that those people running in there with you have a good aim/ping/fps because nobody like to see their adrenaline drop at the speed of light when the monster level is low, especially Adrenaline Masters (who pretty much need to constently globe from wave 13 to 15 to stay alive).

i did not know the adv rocket/energy lords did this. but it cant be all that much since i never notcied my adren being drained at all. if there is draining of the adren it cant be too much. the problem isnt the energy draining, its the monsters and amount of adren given by them when one kills them. it makes globing+tripling much tougher than it used to be (intentionally? if yes then :thumbright: ). its much tougher hitting a flying monster than it is a titan or a queen, especially with an energy flak. no more running around godlike anymore :sgiggle:DW_FrankyTheFly wrote:Actually they pose a very higher threat than the seekers in a different way.
