Where in the world can you get Lwo or Ase format free 3D models?

I can't afford to buy a 3D modeling program, neither have the knowledge to create one.
There's gotta be some website that has free 3D models out there.

I have googled for 2 hours, but can't find anything.
Anyone knows?

At the moment I am making a medieval map, and need a throne and statues of a woman holding a jar, and various angels.
But in future, i will need other models.

Please help.

Use Blender, free open source program.

not in the lack of strength,
not in the lack of knowledge,
but rather in the lack of will.

I downloaded it and looking at the screen right now... no idea what I'm doing here.
Provabley would be better off with the editor's 2d shapper tool, haha.

What am I looking at here?
Let's see... what does this do?
No no no, don't do that... what the... no idea Ant.

There are some places you can get free 3D models, but you pretty much are going to need a 3D program anyway to either (a) adjust the models (very few public sources produce models that are low poly and intended for use in a game) and (b) get them in the right format for Unreal.

Google Sketchup Warehouse is one of the better sources for free models I've found, but their best models are architectural, not props.

TurboSquid also has some free models that might be useable.

Hm, I know... the 3D modeling is a very difficult, time consuming, and expencive field.
But I guess it makes the maps look a lot better.

Building a map should take longer (unless your building your map completely out of meshes like Hourences. Your previous comment makes me wonder how much time is invested into your maps.
Difficulty between the two programs are the same. All you need to do is know the editor (same applies to Blender, Photoshop, Flash or whatever software you're using).
Blender and Sketchup is free.

Search YouTube for Blender tutorials. When I can think of the name of the model repository I've been to, I'll post it.

Thanks everyone.

Ant, to answer to your question...
Well, I spend something like 1 week to 1 month to complete a map.
My first map took me over 2 months to do, but that's because I was learning.
Now it takes me about a week.
Some maps even takes me just a couple of days to make.

I could do very high detailed maps, with lots of fancy stuff and look really realistic.
But that's not necessarly what makes a map.
Sure it makes it look a lot better... but you don't necessarily have fun playing it.

I think Time Travel is perhaps the best looking map I made, and sure is fun to play, but personally I have more fun playing souvenir shop.
Although you think that the map is just a box with a few meshes, but I like wide open spaces where I can run around freely throwing mines or flaking monsters.
I look around the map while I'm fragging monsters and see the toy movers, and all the stuff in the shelves and it makes me laugh, thinking that the character has really been shrunk in size.

It don't matter to me if it's just a box with meshes, it's the theme that puts a smile on my face while fragging monsters.
I don't know how you didn't see potential in the map.
It makes me smile everytime I play it.
It's provabley my favourite of all the maps I made.

Look at DM-bunker, it's juat a box with some meshes in it, but look how much fun people have playing the map!
It don't matter to them that it's just a large box with some meshes in it... the map is way fun.
Because it has 2 very simple elements that you don't seem to take into account and are vital engridients for a map.
1- It has wide open spaces for high level players to run around
2- it has safe spots for low level players to be safe

Simple as that!

Although the one I'm currently working on now... no, not Geometry... but Nosgoth 2 - Kane's Castle, it's looking good.
I think this will be my best map yet.
Not only in terms of visuals, but also gameplay, fun, etc...

So, I don't want to rush this one, I really want to make a first class map here, but that's why I need 3D models.
The layout is also good.
It's not just a box with meshes, it does look good... even if I say so my-self.

http://www.blendswap.com has free 3D models to use/edit in Blender, which can be converted for use in UT maps.
