Lots of maps are still in beta stage.. if they are finish them or remove them.. if they are not remove beta tag. also some maps have graphical bugs.. especialy DM-Insomnia needs different floor texture.. the one *mapper* used have transparent parts and it makes horrible HoM (hall of mirrors) effect. I do not say you have to make perfect and awesome maps like Epic or talented mappers but some of maps in your map list have really terrible flaws.. :ssad:
I made an AM character just to be able to use electromagnet in safe spots with 500 adrenaline and rejuvation weapon +5

The floor in Insomnia was intended. I did address this to the mapper and told him a solution in what he could do to fix that, but he wanted the floor like that. It provides an interesting effect.

It is true that most maps are in beta stage. The main reason why they remain in beta is because it leaves room for updates. If we find a major glitch several months later, then we still have the option to iterate the beta number and fix the glitch. If we kept the same name and update the map then we'll get into multiple problems (ie: players will get mismatches). It's best to be safe than sorry.

Also if a map is perfectly fine, it's not productive to remove the map, remove the beta tags, then reupload it onto the server redirect and webadmin, then force everyone to redownload it, then you got the misc stuff that needs to be redone (for example: need new screenshot for gametracker). Is it worth it just to change the title?

hehe I guess that could be origin of its name.. insomnia.. like when you are so sleepy so you have little visual halucinations.
Still there is a kinda serious problem with DM-Insomnia.. some lifts are too fast or have small corridor for them so player drop out of them while traveling.. that could kill many people if they are escaping from dangerous monster.. I suggest to slow down speed of lift platform a little and increase size of that corridor with sloped lift.

Yes you have right with that beta tag.. it is not worth of it..

No map is ever final unless it comes in a box. And these days even that's not always true.

I was checking that DM-Insomnia in editor and it is really lame..

Unaligned textures... ligt sources on places where isnt actualy a lightbulb, lamp or torch in game.. pipes which lead to few points thick wall but nothing on other side.. cables which are just cutted off on one side.. (but they shouldnt be since they power up that lift).. using bad aligned texture to make *trail* for sloped lift.. adren pills placed without using ruler.. that *interesting* floor..(I saw a room under map which should be under that semi-transparent floor but author didnt connect it properly..) patch nodes looks like randomly throwed out around level.. pair of lights on one wall in tank room are not working at all.. etc..

It looks like author did it in hurry or was lazy to put more effort into his work.. maybe he did it over single night :swink:
Gameplay is good but estetic parts are terrible

I opened it in editor because I wanted to make my improved version but I gave up when I couldnt fix that wall in tank room.. Better to make my own map from scratch.

DW Inv servers are the most populated Inv servers in UT04 Internet Games Browser.. so I think they should have good quality in all aspect.

I donate $60 per month and I get some character levels for that.. but if I need to make special donation to keep server in high quality then say so..

I actually agree with your criticisms of this map, although really ... A large number of the maps people vote for on the server are not what I would consider high quality by any stretch of the imagination. And typically it seems like the popularity of a map is inversely proportional to how good it is. (At least IMO.)
At the same time we like to encourage Monster Mashers to create levels for the server, as it keeps things entertaining. It's encouraging to get your level on the server and get to play it with other people.

I notice you mentioned that you think it'd be better to make your own map from scratch. Feel free to post your WIP up here and I'm sure Ant and I at the least will probably be willing to offer you some help constructive criticism. And keep in mind that we often cycle maps in and out on the servers just to shake things up a bit.
