The crying about "changes"

Many people complains about the changes to a class or a map. This is my point of view: Before complaining about a change or a nerf, you should consider these: Know your class and how you build it and what it is capable to do Know the map you are playing from beginning to end and the monsters on that map and what weapons are available to you and which of those use against an specific monster. Know what team is next to you they influence your score and ability to survive. Each class has their unique abilities you need to know in what situation to use them effectively. All the changes are made to make the game FAIR. I have many experience playing in Monster Mash there I got a WM level 380 a AM level 230 and a MM level 260. Here on ME I got 2 berserkers 2 paladins and 3 supports, I have learned a lot about Bersekers and I got use to all the changes made to it. Also I learned a lot about support and I still get records even with the 50% threat nerf. How? I apply all what I have stated above, and for paladin I'm in a process of learning my paladin is level 76 so I can't say anything about it. All people complains about the nerf, because it was made to their class and that affect them, they complains about it a lot , but when the classes they don't like get nerf they are happy. No one will ever say this is unfair I'm getting a lot of exp or i survive very easy and longer than others I'll requests a nerf to my class, that will never happen. Also have in mind that each class has little advantages depending on which map is being played. The most important thing about the success on a class is your skill level and your character building, Im a Berseker for life if a rank 4 paladin lets me borrow their class I'll never get same score as them. But is a rank 4 support let me borrow their char I'm sure I'll get a good score, because as I said I have 3 supports and I know how to play it. All changes were and will be fair, of your class get a change you will not like it, but you can still get use to it and play and have fun. ( sorry about the spaces in writing I was on my phone :P)
If we don't do what we love, no matter if we do it all day we will always be unoccupied...
This needs to be quoted, as it is the 100% truth... Changes are not made to upset players or cause them difficulties, they are to BALANCE the game, so all classes are more or less equal.El_Salvador_503 wrote:All the changes are made to make the game FAIR.
2 months ago supports were the #1 class, mainly because they were so over powered.
Lots of threat, reloading weapons reloaded ALL teammate weapons with every shot (in addition to the reloading bonus effect).
While using the booster combo, adrenaline abilities were still active, so depending on the map I could start my booster as soon as I hit 100 dren and it wouldn't ever EVER stop (unless I got up to full health/shield).
The reloading weapon would reload every weapon the support had, not just the reloader. As a result I was NEVER out of ammo, EVER... It got to the point where I wouldn't even spawn ammo packs because I could just shoot teammates with the shotgun (or similar).
When these things got fixed, it hurt, it hurt like hell. I'll be the first to admit that AS A PLAYER, I hated them with a passion. However my developer side realized that support was over powered and changes needed to be made. As a result, I adapted my play style to fit the class. I returned to spawning ammo packs like a fiend, and instead of always having a reloader, I'll only use it on certain maps (nocturne, thrust, torlan, xeno), because there's enough ammo already in the map.
Is the game perfect? LOL... show me an online rpg (type) game that is... It's okay, I'll wait...
What makes ME different than other games out there is the fact that we (as players) have an unprecedented level of access and communication with the main (sole?) developer. Ant is very very open to suggestions and constructive criticism. What is not helpful is the whining and yelling and moaning about nerfs or changes, or whatever.

This is indeed the truth... If someone would ask me I would tell him that there is no perfect balance. It simply can't be. If people would want balance between classes there would be only 1 true result to it. And that is 1 class. This would make everyone happy, right!?! HELL NO! People would get bored as everyone would be doing the same thing. Look, no matter how perfect the balance between the classes are, there is always going to be someone that will complane about this and that, why can't that be like that and what would be if this. People complaining about the 50% reduction to healing weapons(ME), considering the fact that using the disp. pistol gives you a weapon that can heal for unlimited time without having the need for ammo... I would consider it as overpowered. Healing weapons should be nerfed to only weapons that don't have inf ammo (means excluding disp. pistol and the shield gun). Why you ask? Look it's really simple! Paladins have a healing weapon that is infinite. Suppots with high enough adre and adre drip just have to wait 2 mins and there we go the booster combo! The risk that they took? 5%!( the chance that the server is going to crash (joking))! What about Berzerkers? As far as I know the way to heal is go out and shoot those damn monsters and syphon some life! Oh wait, they could die right? So let us add a totaly safe healing method for berzerkers! Or even better! Make the game harder and take away the booster combo and the healing weapons. Simple as pie. Right?? And there we go again. I confess my fealings about the healing weapons. There will be like 50 guys who will say that what I am writing is total nonsense! But it's going always to be like that. Changing a problem like the one mentioned above is a game problem... or a playstyle? (go kick some ass and don't care about dieing, you will kill em all and survive in the end). Those are the problems that I consider that are important. Not such things as the 50% healing reduction. I think I got a litle off the path. Anyway I apologise for any grammatic errors. Hope people will grow up, stop complaining about everything and take things as they are.

I don't wish to lead this to a topic discussing which class is most powerful.
One of the things I do want to point out is that, people have the right to be upset about changes. It's human nature look negatively on changes since it may force them to adapt to the new scenario.
I can't blame them for getting upset about changes either. Some players have a solid plan ahead of their build. They invest their stat points for a particular ability only to find out it's going to get changed moments before or after they've purchased it.
I can also see that players get upset of map changes. One player may invest much time to achieve a difficult map record only to lose it when the map significantly changes.
I can see when players get upset when the structure of a map changes. Players get comfortable with their main strategy (specially the strategies that give them a high score). When a map structure changes that forces them to change their tactics, they'll get upset about that. I can't blame them for that.
I do apologies when things change. I understand why you may get upset over the changes. Even I get upset on some of the changes. I particularly make changes mostly based on user discussion, feedback, and observation (that's how things get onto my list). None of the changes are made in act of smiting or for vengeance. They are made because the people said so or if I find that players are exploiting something or if a particular class dominates/or falls behind others frequently.

One thing I must say is that, I didn't want the server to remain private for a long period of time. I didn't want to keep a password on Monster Evolution for a couple years only to fine tune each class/map or wait for the alpha testers to achieve rank 4 for each class.
I'd figured since the server is free to play, people will be okay that the server became public during beta. We'll gain several rank IV players (with a variety of play-styles) faster meaning we can find a decent balance faster, and players can enjoy their time at an earlier date.
Please be mindful that the entire server is still being adjusted. Just note all of those beta suffixes after the map titles. There is still much work to be done. Eventually the server will achieve a good balance, but achieving something like that will take much time.
Thank you for your patience and tolerance.

The difference between successful people from others is
not in the lack of strength,
not in the lack of knowledge,
but rather in the lack of will.

I was going to say that most people even though they know the change is fine, want to complain just because they want their class to be better. If you make my class weaker and I knew it was too strong, I'll still complain because A) the concept of change itself is something people usually don't like and B) I wanna fight for my class and keep it as strong as possible, regardless of how strong it already is, that's politics.
Though I've been playing more MM lately anyway since a certain many-times-banned-yet-somehow-still-around player still hasn't learned a thing and I'd rather not play ME at all than play with them. :|
