Would the owner(s) of the Monster Mash code base be willing to make it open source, so that developers with free time can provide fixes to known bugs? This would also allow developers to host variants of Monster Mash on their own servers, for example "Monster Mash Express" which has 8 waves instead of 16 - or whatever.

Good idea, or am I talking out of my arse?

It's already open source.

I wouldn't say it's open source Ant. That implies it'd be cool to take code we've written for the DW servers and run your own -- That's not ok. What is perfectly fine is submitting your own fixes or whatnot for inclusion into future versions.

Where can I find information on obtaining the source, testing a fix, and the procedure for bringing the fix into the live system?

I guess that's the tricky part. Many who edits the source ends up breaking their own game or forbids themselves from connecting to the server (via mismatches). You should really know what you're getting into before producing undesirable results.

If me memory serves correct, I did not do any coding , MM is based on Druid's RPG http://www.disastrousconsequences.com/d ... how/1.page. It is open source, yes we have made some tweaks that we are keeping behind keys, but the bugs lie in the root of the MOD and that is Druids or UT2k4 not our code.

GL soldier report your results. It's not just us that would be interested in results I'm sure. Little late in the game maybe but better late then never.
