From the only perspective i know you will get lots of quality bandwith for gameing. That being said get your cowboy hats and spurs on becuase the rest is the wild west.

Hornet! ;PpPpp

Ah...what a stereotype!! Although, I admit it was a bit like that during the mid 80s. Nowadays you hardly ever see a business man in a bolo tie, hat and cowboy boots driving a big ol' Caddy with longhorns on the hood!
LOL!!

The neat thing about living here is the variety! Dallas' image is more urban and somewhat cosmopolitan, while Fort Worth sees itself as leaning more towards the Cowtown image. However, they do have a wealth of great cultural items to their credit as well. There are loads of different communities in the metro area. Bedroom communities...high tech...high rent....small town...you name it.

Don't know where exactly your new opportunity would place you, but be prepared for driving more than you're probably used to now. Things are a bit spread out down here. It's not really a bad thing, but then I had to get used to it..coming from a small town of 50,000 or so to DFW was a major culture shock! Roads are pretty good...you just have to learn which parts of the freeway system to avoid at rush hours.

There isn't any state income tax. Sales taxes vary by the community in which you're shopping...currently the highest is 8.25%. Real estate market is doing well now...buyers market pretty much in most of the communities.

Core city public transportation is good. Outlying metro area transport sucks. They're gradually getting light rail up and running, but it's taking a while.

Travel hub is very good...with DFW International airport and several other metro airports available. Amtrak service and Greyhound bus too.

Weather can be volatile at times. We don't really have much in the way of winter. Coldest months are January and February. It's only snowed three times since I moved here in 1986. We do get the occasional sleet and or ice storms....I advise just staying home and letting the folks who forget from one season to the next how to drive on slick roads, have all the fun sliding off the highway! Spring time can be a challenge...of course where you're living now is no stranger to hail and tornadoes.

Ya can pm me if you'd like specifics on anything else. Hope this helps! :D

Dallas isn't a bad place to live, theres certainly worse places you could live in place of Dallas. One nice thing at least is that it is mostly out of reach of hurricanes, unlike Houston. Theres alot of things to do, and theres always an annual local gaming event where you can play UT with others under one big roof unlike Houston which doesn't have anything like that at all...
