They also speculate that AMD will be right behind them with 4x4. That may be even more interesting for me.

I remember my dad saying something about a quad-core processor, just not Kentsfield. I wonder what gaming magic a quad-core could do? *imagines clipping of Hornet's with a sniper rifle from 500feet*
I believe that Cloverfield is the quad core coming from Intel. Apparently, it is just (just) 2 C2D on the same die. Some testing site (Tom's maybe?) swapped out the woodcrests on a MacPro and substituted in 2 cloverfields (8 cores!!).
It apparently screamed on things like media encoding, etc.
Not going to be terribly helpful until gaming programmers learn to multiprocess better. (Not an easy task.)
