Movement
The movement in the UT series is a very original aspect, and gives players the ability to further personalize their path around the level and their battle style.
Jumping
Normal Jump - Pressing the jump button (the standard button is the spacebar) once, so the player jumps up in the air.
Double Jump -Pressing the jump button just after the apex of the single jump , this gives the player extra altitude. If you jump, or double jump a lot during your play, it's called Bunny hopping.
Dodging
Dodge - Double-tapping any of the movement keys (forward, backward, strafe left, or strafe right — WASD) makes the player perform a low-altitude jump with high speed towards the desired direction.
Dodge Jump - Pressing the jump button just after the apex of the normal dodge, increases your distance and gives you extra altitude.
Wall Dodging
Wall Dodge - Positioning yourself next to a wall while in midair and then using the dodge-move (see above) to spring off the wall in the direction opposite from that of the wall. This needs to be done in mid-air (before the player lands), otherwise it will result in a simple dodge.
Wall Dodge Jump - Combining the normal wall dodge with the dodge jump. This results in giving the player the largest jump available in this game.
Note: A player is limited to use only one jump while in mid-air, therefore a Double-Jump Wall Dodge-Jump is not possible.

Dodging has its advantages, but its disadvantage is i basically know your trajectory. Its kinda like hitting a horizontal jump pad. Moving quickly from left to right is more effective then dodging in a firefight unless its needed. For example if we are having a shock battle then doing so exposes yourself, if it was rockets you can dodge out of the splash zone. Use it as a tool in your skill set, its not an adjustable wrench type thing.
The above statement is due to combat situations. The angled double dodge and jump allows you to cover long distances in a short time. Ive seen people get close to out pacing tanks.

Two important things:
1) Make sure dodging is enabled in your settings: and
2) Make sure the dodging time is set to something you can deal with.
Once you have those set up, use the map Wraith suggested to try it out. Some people like and some people don't.
Snaggle.

Yeah, I have learned not to dodge too much when facing Hornet :colors:DW_Hornet wrote:Dodging has its advantages, but its disadvantage is i basically know your trajectory. Still does me no good.

It's because of the restraining order. :blackeye:DW_Hornet wrote:Yes i was wondering why you weren't exposing yourself much anymore.

Not sure why *you* would be killed because a *bot* flipped, but the simple answer is no. The flipping is an affectation of some of the female actors in the game. Not all do it. I also believe that it doesn't affect the 'hit zone' of the subject. One of the technical guys (Wail, Hornet, Wraith, etc.) can confirm that last bit. Essentially, it's just a visual distraction.krypton wrote:ok thx
but is there a way to kill the flip at the end of a dodge jump? I spent sometime in some freon games, and all the ppl there can use the dodge jump to go far but when i used it i get kill since the bot keep flipping.
If you really do want to stop it, I believe you would need to 'force model' to a non-flipping female actor. I unfortunately don't have the instructions available but they have appeared in the forums before. The same folks mentioned above may also be able to help you with it. If you are eager, just type 'force-model UT' into google and you should find something to chew on in the meantime.
HTH.
