Hi everyone,
It's become obvious that a lot of the regulars of this community (both clan members and SVA) have really fallen in love with RPG invasion. I was talking with some of the guys in the clan the other night about this.
With the new server I built, I have a lot of horsepower sitting unused. I was thinking that it might be cool to provide an invasion RPG server of our own. Some of the guys have already sent me links to things that will be needed. But I wanted to open up a "forum" for discussion and talk about some of the possibilities.
I'm not interested in making an exact copy of what you are playing on now. What I want to do is provide you the same basic gameplay, but with tweaks you might want, and of course a few of our own mutators thrown into the mix. I have encountered several nice little muts in my travels that of course have done me no good since I want the ONS server to stay on the white list.
So in summary, those of you who play on the invasion server, let me hear your suggestions. How many players? What do you like about it? What do you hate about it? Have links to maps you like? Want to see a new mutator running? Let me know.

I was not able to play it due to my control set up. It hard coded its controls over my setup. Basically, I could not go forward - just back and side. That got old really quick.
I had the same problem with the Monster Assault server you were running. It did not like the way my use key was mapped (I had it extremely customized through the .ini file). So, to use the vehicles, I had to create another key that was strictly "use".
I don't know if that is a common problem with the mutators or what. Just something to keep in mind.

I would like to see the mp5 and benelli shotgun added to the mix. We played on a server last night and I liked having those weapons available.

Nice link Wail. Will definitely look into that. They have some interesting sounding muts as well.
And Bean, yes that's on the list. See the other thread for mutators which are not necessarily directly related to invasion.

Must hear "d i n k s" when hitting a monster. I was told last night what this was actually called but I forgot, sorry guys :colors:.
Start off stats a little more than 30, but no like 14000, like that 1 server. I'm not sure what would be a nice amount, any suggestions?
I wish the "shop" wasn't copyright, or w/e its called. I think its great to be able to have an option to earn "credits" and "shop" for whatever you need/want. I found this option benifcial to create certain weapons for just starting out players; "Here let me make you an infin mine layer, now go have fun!" After all that's how I was kindly treated when I started playing, thanks guys! Is it possible to create any program similar to this?

I believe you are referring to hitsounds, which is part of utcomp, which will be included.
As for this "store", if it has been released publicly, I will use it. If not, I'm not going to try to rip it off.
I don't know how to code unreal script. If anyone wants to give it a shot, they are more than welcome.
If this "store" is critical to you folks playing here, say it now because this is going to be a lot of work for me, and I don't want to go through it only to have the server sit empty.

Some ppl say that they can live w/o the store, but I LOVE using it. I buy certain weapons that I can feel confident enough going out in the midst of the fight. I'd rather be able to make something myself then be asking an AM for their weapons all the time. With my luck I'd spawn with a weapon that would kill me or spawn with my best weapon being a vorpal shiled gun +10 :( and wouldn't even have an option to change it. I don't want to go through 16 Waves trying to shild gun a titan to death :laughing9: or kill myself each wave in the hopes that I would have the luck of spawning with a better weapon.
I hope that others will feel the same as I do, I don't want you to go through the hard work if I'm the only one feeling this way. If there are others who would like a store option please speak up. If it were applied it would be greatly appreciated!

The store/credits system is good because it gives players more control and incentivizes play (via credits). Though personally I don't think any of the crazy RPG stuff is necessary at all (yeah, I enjoy vanilla Invasion as well...), my guess is it's reasonably important to the popularity of RPGI among DW/SVAs.
I don't think running the store on your server is ripping it off though -- It's not like you're claiming credit for the thing. Running something that is publicly distributed on the UI servers doesn't strike me as questionable at all unless the author of that functionality comes over here and specifically requests that you don't.

The store is something that causes those two servers a lot of grief - that's what the admin says. The admin has had to rework it several times as well. Yeah, it's nice, but no we don't need it. If you start people out at a higher level, they can get "resupply" to keep their weapons full. It is nice to get other specialties for the weapons, but isn't necessary. Having more damage bonus available will kind of make up for it. I wouldn't go to the trouble of getting it on there. Let's focus on everything else, and IF necessary, save the "store" to the very last.
Also, I like the 16 players bit. Unless the number of monsters are increased per wave, there would be too many people not getting any kills. Spectating slots would be nice, maybe two. Also having main bosses every 5 or so waves would be cool. Servers last night had 22 waves, which might be a little too much? but they had a couple lucifers on wave 10 as a midpoint boss. I thought it was a good idea.
