so i was playing earlier tonight. at map change, i was completely overcome by dismay that nobody ever wants to play anything but the same 11 maps, so i decided to do something about it.
For months i'd been threatening to do something with the tiny ass Training Day, so i did. here's a couple pics.

It's much bigger and won't change much from the current layout. No more getting knocked into the crack and falling 3 ft to your death. also no more attic safe zone.
I am however going to put in something defensive. Something like timed doors on the roundabouts (hit a button and the door will close for 10 secs, then the switch is unusable for "a while") or the like. i MIGHT add another room/hall connecting a pair of wheels. haven't decided if i want to fuck with that, or move on to another quickie project.
This is nothing stellar. it's a copy/paste hack job . . . cept for the lighting. Most of the maps we play are completely devoid of varied gameplay. They tend to be pits of despair that promote minelayer spam. Horrible.
so... it's still small, but you have some cover, and i'll be putting some adren out there. with the number of monsters that come out to play around here, that main area is gonna be a mess.

- the layout was modified to a cloverleaf. it would probably support 6 player dm. It's still small, but hopefully it'll be funner.
- The pickup layout is quite different, and i added a deemer right smack in the middle of everything.
- no more attic.
- no more falling into lava which never made any kinda sense at all
- more health pickups
- adrenalin stacks with a 10s spawn

i heard it was better but hard, and that's fine. My goal was to take a good nugget and make it better for invasion. if it was fun and hard (ahem) then mission accomplished.
i think i can safely assume that it was bugless, since it's been played a couple times and there's no hollerin posts here.

After having played it a couple times, it needs some spawn tweaks to make it survivable. I've played it 3x, and we made it to 10th, 12th and 12th waves . . . that's nowhere near winnable. maybe as the regular players gain some levels, but today? pfft.

What about the doors that open and close every 10 seconds we were promised . Atleast through some sand bags in the corner or something. HOw about a couple small walls on either end , we need some cover man that place gets crazy. :idea:
