I'm relatively new to UT2004, although this is not the first time I've played UT(used to play UT Classic CTF). After playing for about a month or so I've noticed that some of my techniques in moving around is a little different than UT classic. With that said. Would anyone care to share any pointers to help me stay alive a little longer, learn to better protect nodes and increase my shooting accuracy?

For instance, last night I noticed that "fondlesweaters" loaded up his manta with spider mines just before he left (I was trying to comment on that, but voice chat is spotty). I can see how this would be effective when getting off or drive by enemies in the manta.

Now for voice chat. Can anyone hear me in the game? Please let me know if it's working or not because I don't want to tie up the sound channel if it's not working properly.

Yeah I remember that JRV...I couldnt hear you very well, dude. That "Spider Manta" tactic is really good for taking out tanks. I usually jump on top of the manta and put four mines on each wing. You'll have to practice so that you don't blow yourself up, and you want to avoid other enemy targets or else your mines take off. But then if you can just cruise by or rest the loaded Manta on top of a Goliath, it's down in a heartbeat.

Linking up to shoot at nodes or groups of fighters works really well, too...hmmm...

I'll try to think of some other good tips...

Best thing you can do to learn is spend alittle time specing ppl . It will increase the curve anyhow. But feel free to ask away.

I still spec to learn new things.

I kinda just close my eyes and shoot.

Another thing is you get 4 pts for building nodes and 3 pts a kill for defending one of your own nodes if your into that sorta stuff.I think its called ONS.

as far as the other DM stuff I see alotta people jumping around a bunch that prolly impress some of the "good" players.

theres the quick weapon switch where you go from one shot with the flack and then switch over to the the rocket launcher and shoot 3 rockets at once while guys like me who dont hack there ini just get to shoot once.

there's also the rapid fire where were both 1 v 1 shooting the ,say shock rifle and you can shoot about 25% quicker than I can or we both have the rocket launcher and I load up 3 rockets, which takes me a second ,but you can load 3 shoot and then shoot a single before i can reload and shoot.

There's a couple others I can't think of atm but im sure someone wil PM with the links :cherry:

BTW welcome.

Today i sat out a few rounds to watch various players. It looks like everyone dies about the same rate. It's just that some are a little more productive before their fragged.

Nice tip, but isn't cheating banned from DW?

I don't think hacking your .ini is cheating. I don't myself but its regular accepted that make your player move 2x's as fast or jump 2x's as far or higher than the others is ok. Also anything to induce lag on your opponent or drop there FPS to 10 helps.

But seriously I just concentrate on aim mostly and try to find the right weapons for the right job. Same goes for vehicles. Some do alotta of damage when used right against the right target.

The other thing if you play here enough is you get the feel for the people you play with against. jump moves are predictable. ifondel is always up to something. Kill him before he gets those mines to your tank. Pomona always goes for a tank. Don't let him get it to start with. Me i always go for a node first use it against me.

Play and have fun. its a great game. you really get a good feel the battle's ebe and flow. the servers is fun to play on.

Just let it be known, joeblow, that yes, while I am usually "up to something" (muahahahaha), I only ever try to stir up some mischief if my team is well on their way to beating some ass. Until that point, I link nodes like crazy and try to get my team in a dominating position.

Then, it's time to have some fun. I love that little buffer of time between securing the nodes and crushing the core. ONS is supposed to be fun, it's a video game. I wish more people would take the chance to enjoy it and have some fun. And if somehow the other team makes a comeback, big frickin whoop, makes it all the more exciting.

That's how I look at it, at least.

I seen you sniping on Bitchslap

How many head shots you get on me? I guessed pretty good where you where at just couldn't get at you.

I didn't mean anything bad by it I just meant that you have a unique way of tackling a problem.

Exagerating there just a bit don't uou think Joe. Speeding your shock rifle up . Or loading up 3 shots in the rocket launcher before you switch to it would be a hack . Not a .ini file setting. I have seen none of this on DW,. If you want to learn more about your .ini file check this out just remember to back it up before u fiddle.

Playing 32 man ONS you will die . LOts. Everyone does. Well most everyone . Expecially if your going for a disputed node.

You wouldn't happen to know of any tricks/mods that can be performed in a Linux environment?
