Could we get an official ruling on this map? Some people come in and hide under the gold. They claim that they have been told that it is not glitching. However, everytime I have been on it, somone has pointed out that it is glitching.
Maybe if a blocking volume was put there, it would fix it once and for all... Removing the blocking volumes up top would be interesting as well...
Thoughts?

I believe it is glitching and when time permits could be fixed.
I have pointed out to players this was a glitch but havent
booted anyone. What do you think Bomsin, Wraith. Map
plays well and tough. Cheap :violent3:

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Emerson
Part of the problem last night is that the guy in question claimed he had done it with some DWs previously. Unfortunately, I could not refute that and there were no DWs on the server. Not being an admin/DW there was not much I could do.Cheapshot wrote:I believe it is glitching and when time permits could be fixed.

I told him that it was considered glitching with the DWs I have played with. If he had a problem with it, he should bring it up on the forums. Eventually, I think that everyone ended up on Acy's and my side. Personally, I think it is hard to argue that it was an intentional part of the map. It looks like a DM layout to me (no dead ends, etc). I can't imagine anyone making a DM map where a player is untouchable.
I may have some time to look at it tonight since the wife has class. I would also like to open up the roof a bit. I think that that would give the map a little bit longer life, wave wise. But, I don't want to put too much in it, or else it will just become a shooting fish in the barrel type of map.
While I know its a glitch, its something we discussed one day after finding it a couple days ago. Since the map is a tough one, for now, if they want to do it, its fine with me, your not 100% safe anyhow. There really is no safe areas at all, and yeah, we have discussed opening the upper portions up. If I remember correctly, theres mostly cosmetic issues with opening the top up, as it looks kinda ugly in places up there, thats why it was blocked off if I remember. I'm too busy now to put any time into it, and the free time I have I want to play until my other stuff I'm doing is finished. Too many things to do and not enough time to do them....

I worked on it a bit tonight... I just deleted the gold since it is a terrain.
I did open up the top. Then I learned that there were no textures up there. So, I may step back a version and submit it to you.
Maybe this weekend I will work on the texturing up top...

no textures = detextured. ppl do that to optimize a map but it saves VERY little.
what you can do is . . .
1) select a non-textured surface
2) select all surfaces with the same texture (an edit menu option i forget where)
3) apply a random wooden texture from another part of the map.
4) submit the map for upload.

Yeah, that is what I figure I will do. I am not going to get too hung up on it. I think that I am going to have to delete some of the cannons and stuff because they are unfinished as well. The biggest issue may be the subtracted cube. It is so tight around the ship.monsTo wrote:no textures = detextured. ppl do that to optimize a map but it saves VERY little.
