Monster Master isn't a build unto itself, it's something for high level (100+) Medics to waste points in, because you just went something like 80 levels without buying any abilities that grant any new or special skills.

And, yes, no one wants monsters that are anywhere near as effective as human players. When you've got a couple of high level medics with Titans or giant razor flies or something swarming around, it's annoying enough with their constant bodyblocking and confusion factor. We don't need them killstealing tons of monsters at the same time.

In the speculative world where one actually spends time doing this, I'd much rather see the monsters be unique and offer unique abilities, instead of just being another gun (so to speak). Something like Diablo 2's Golems for the Necromancers -- You can only have one at any one time, and the different types have different abilities to set them apart. For example, one could provide an ammo regen aura, another a health/damage reduction aura, a third could siphon off 50% of any damage you take, etc.

I don't play MM a lot, but when I do, I enjoy spawning a Raptor, healing him to the brim, and letting him go off and play for a couple rounds before I find him again and juice his ass up. Sort of like spawn and forget it. But I try to make sure he isn't jumping in front of people or blocking doorways, and if he is I give him a stern talking to and I don't give him any treats. If that doesn't work, then I kill him. People who knock medic monsters have to realize that being a medic can get kind of boring, and that monsters spice things up for medics. Plus it's nice knowing that he's got my back.

Is there any more specific information on monsters and the damage they do? Do some monsters only attack particular monsters, or do I imagine that?

Back when I had a fully loaded Medic with monsters I could swear that they were very reluctant to attack their own kind.
Also, they would have different behaviors. For example, I found raptors to be useless because they were like little dogs following me around.
The other thing to keep in mind was that they also were effective against different types of monsters. So, one monster would be good for one wave, but not necessarily good for another. Ironically, I found the titans and raptors (who most people think are the most powerful ones) to be next to useless.

My Raptors seem to tear the shit out of everything up until about wave 9...then I'm usually too busy healing peeps anyways to bother with monsters. They do tend to stick close to you, but sometimes I'll intentionally lose them or lock them outside so they have to fight. I don't mess with Titans for some reason. What monsters do you use when youre a medic Zeus?

Well, I haven't played with a medic with monsters since my SVA character became DW. So, I don't know what the situation is like now.

But, I would use quick lighter monsters in the early waves. Then I would use Brutes (I think). I could keep three of those alive. And they would walk around and just destroy things with their rockets.

A titan's rock was decent against lucy, the problem was keeping him alive. They have a very slow rate of fire.

People used to use mutiple of the giant fly's but Wraith nuetered them pretty early on.

Vagaries don't seem to do much.

Well there is monster intelligence, Also they will tend to stay close to you if you spawn them and don't trans away.

They take your stats and abilities, so building a good character gives you better monsters also.

Nightwolf really liked the giant razor flies.

You have 75 health and a monster attacks doing 100 damage.
If you had 50 in DR the monster does 25% less damage (75 your still dead)
If you had 50 in health the monster does 100 damage, but you have 125 health (you live AND you still have 25 more points to distribute)
There is a flaw in your logic: if you have 75 health then you don't have 125 no matter how much heath bonus you have. For mathematical proof, refer to the following equation.

75≠125

If, however, you had 76 health and a monster attacked for 100 damage, the DR would help more.

Hopefully, that justifies my decision on DR over HR.

He means if you spent 50 points in health putting your health at 125 you would live.

But still with advanced DR you would live through that shot easy if you want a good medic get DR and ADR they work great together and it is the whole reason to have a medic. Getting health does not help you as much as getting DR and ADR because they boost each other.

Really though, it's only a few levels which you should fly by anyway so no worries :bounce: (DR > HB, the slower you die the faster you can heal yourself - essentially)

I agree, but it's handy to have both though, 100 Health aint much. Thatswhy i put 250 health on my character, and spend the rest on DR.
