Yes; it's possible. It's true that accusations of favoritism might might result. But what you've suggested here as fix to the text issue doesn't help me at all. I don't wanna have to take the time to type a message in game, much less scroll back through the chat log (as it lengthens while I try to do so). I should have the option to communicate in game more effectively/efficiently than that.

I don't disagree with that. I just don't really know what's possible with the voicechat system in UT -- I wouldn't mind if the admins could bump people from general chat who are being a nuisance, but let them talk on other people's personal channels. I just don't want to have to hear it and I don't want to have to turn off VC entirely just for the Monster Mash server.

There are many many many MANY reasons not to put voice chat back on. There is a reason ventrilo is there. Use it.

Admins can't really mute people, can they? I mean, they have to listen to what's being said and keep people from being abusive or profane. On the other hand, the server is just too silent without it... Maybe just don't let Taz use it.

i realize that i am most of the cause of the voice chat banning and for that i am sorry. but as kabuki says voice chat is an important part of any team game and without it its almost impossible to play fully.
i also dont think it is fair though to blame this whole thing on me. sure i am most of the cause but come on people just mute me! some people like franky have never had a problem with me talking. and others the second i open my mouth they complain.
i know i may sound hipocritical but i am trying to work on keeping my chat to an ingame orientation. its just hard to do.
and people are right about favoritism. i was on a game where people were rambling on about nothing like i did but nothing happened to them but the seconed i commented on some1s skin an admin told me to shut up!
whatever i did dont take voice chat away from every1 its just not fair. if anything give it back and just dont let me use it like desko said.

It is NO one's fault the voice chat was taken away... it is better for the server. Play the game and get on vent. :cyclopsani:

I would not mind if voice chat was on, as I have no problem muting people who annoy me.
In terms of admins muting people were it turned back on, I don't think they really have this option. They need to monitor all the players, particularly the ones that others might mute. This being said, I'm sure, to an extent, that having it back on would make their job easier (i.e. it's easier to tell a player to stop doing this or that than it is to type it to them).
BUT, as Bean has said there are many reasons as to why it was turned off, and the only reason to turn it back on is so people can talk instead of type. I'm sure Wraith is more aware of the pros and cons involved with having voice chat enabled than we are. Upon weighing those pros and cons the decision was made to turn it off.
In other words...
The Mighty Ruler of our world has seen fit to remove our tongues. Was this due to our insolence or to achieve some greater good beyond our mundane comprehension? Should we question his actions or be ever thankful for the world he provides us and our very cyber-existence?

I can think of tons of reasons to turn it on. Not everybody likes Vent, like me, i have to change my entire sound setup before i can start using it. Besides that, not more then 5% of the players in Monster Mash actually join the Vent server, making it harder to get people's attention without flooding the chat channel (and even then there's people not paying attention). Also, not everyone has the time to type in a message into the chat, as they are dodging 'Slith's Goo' or a 'Titan's Rock'. You surely can't force everyone to download a 3rd party program (while there is a voice chat function already provided), because any other result but 2 teams is nothing more to expect. The people that use Vent is team number 1 (daily 5 members), and the people without is team number 2 (daily 15 members). Putting the fact that this will divide the players into groups aside, i also have to bring up the fact i barely heard people talking most of the time in Vent, this was allot different with the ingame chat.
My 2 cents, i voted Yes.

Chavez,
Uhh...just because you come on and only see 5 people is really not a good indication of the numbers on vent. Not to mention your one person who has to change his set up, so I understand why you don't use it, we are not making them download anything we are offering a better solution. Vent allows all the same fuctionality of ingame with the add bonus of better quality and dare I say it.... the ability to silence a person without banning them from the game. Besides as Bean and BrainPan stated their are reasons Wraith did what he did and it has nothing to do with one individual(Taz), so leave off.
If he deems the change neccessary so be it!
