I had a question which has been bugging me recently: with the teleporter, can you teleport
anywhere in the level, or only to path nodes, or only to areas around path nodes etc. etc...? If so then secrets like the one in Base of Heroes might be accessible, and the teleporter's actually useful!!
D2Boss wrote:One that really bugs me is from Teh Base of Heros. Coldcase & I along with 18 other people found this crack on the wall, but we couldn't figure out how to get there. Anyone know the secret to that lvl?
Told Boss a while ago; it's a *useful* room which is unusefully unreachable, unless the tele idea works.
Tazcrosblade_ wrote:if we told u, it wouldnt be secret!
but if u rlly want to know, use these tips
1. follow dw members and high levels, they know them all, so just follow them if you see a large group of people going somewhere at the begining of a wave
2. when spectating, scroll through the players till you find some1 in a secret room, then look for the entrance, if you know the color of the wall the hole is in, its alot easyer to find
3. beg, plead, and bargain till some1 tells you
Also, the secret's often under a slightly miscoloured tile (like 3-Triangles and Trank).

Unless it's hidden from the Ed as well... (like in Station - the button sequence is hidden so i don't know it :brave: )

It's a conspiracy!!! ;)

You can get the colour combination for Station in editor, you just have to find it.. the actors drawscale is like 0.00001 so use the finder to find actors And make it bigger so u can see it

Ohhhhh... it's in my cache so i'll look later. So it's not set to hide from the Ed?

It's just slightly too small for my eyes... is there any way to select it without actually clicking on it? Otherwise I could probably edit the drawscale in Notepad, but from past experience that doesn't really work... :blackeye:

Double click on an actor's name in the search for actors window, then hit F4 to bring up its properties.
The teleporter will move you to a random navigation point. Presumably that includes pickups, since pickups automatically generate navigation points, although I'm not 100% sure if that's totally true -- The actual code for how it determines where to send you is part of an UnrealEngine native function.
Anyway - Mappers should not be creating secrets that are impossible to figure out without using the editor.

Ah, thanks for the F4 tip. I feel such a noob :P
So the teleporter is useful! (if only for Base of Heroes... that secret is full of pickups!)
For my next map, I think I'll create a secret room filled entirely with navpoints then hide it from the Ed. Therefore it won't be impossible to figure out without using the Ed, and only the people who read this message will know.
Now just remember: I never said anything about Teh Base of Heroes. Or creating another map.

We gotta be more creative with the secrets. I'm getting a bit tired of a small hole in wall where you have to shoot your trans at a specific angle. I've been veiwing some maps at Map Raider lately, & this one map, you have to pick up some keys & configure a series of buttons to break the puzzle. I'm going to do something similar like that for my flight map :D
