There's no modified Detail.u or Detail.utx files. However you won't be able to start up UT2004 if you don't have these files. Getting them from someone who has the originally installed versions will work.
As for the latest crash, has that happened more than once? Random crashes do happen.

It happened both of the two times i tried to connect is it got to do with torlan?

Hey Mark.
The server is running Detail.utx that came with standard UT2004 installation.
You can ask for someone to get you that file.
A fresh install should fix that problem though so there's no need to ask for one now.
In response to your new crash. Do you still have the latest UT2004 patch? UT2004's latest version is 3369. You can see your version number in the server browser's news section. It'll appear as white text in the upper right corner.
You can get version 3369 from Beyond Unreal.com
If that doesn't fix the problem, please report the critical lines that are generated in your UT2004/System/UT2004.log file
