Fundraising ideas.

An idea that i always thought worked well for fund raising - for every x amount of dollars donated - say $20 per month for example(any amount toxic thinks is fair), then that player always has a guaranteed a spot on the server for 30 days(if you donate $50, then 75 days etc...). When they click to join a game when the server is full, the donater gets in, and a non-donating player with the least amount of time on whatever map is being played gets the boot.

A little harsh on the non-donators maybe, but its motivation to pony up a little dough to stay in the game at peak hours.

It worked back in the day when USSR was still running public servers.

I wasn't aware we had 12 girls in SV... what, would we have recurring pictures of KK and Nutcracker month after month? No offense, but I wouldn't buy that, even if I had money. Yeah, I don't think a T-shirt with our faces on it would sell either, especially when we get to Hornet :blackeye:

This idea has been brought up before. Toxic is not the kind of person who is in this to get any money out of it, and he takes each donation gratefully out of need not out of greed. If people enjoy playing on the server enough to donate, then they donate, but something like this causes a ruckus. Setting up the server to do this would involve having empty slots available to the people, preventing it from being full, or having other players kicked out just so the donating gamers can play. Both have negative effects on the community and that is what DW is all about, a big happy community!

I believe toxic is selling shirts, maybe that can be rolled out in force again as a fund raiser type event.

T-Shirts can be a costly adventure. I would have to guarantee selling probably 20 of them just to break even (which I'm still waiting for on the first batch)

I suggest a car wash. Whurlwind shouldn't be the only lucky one who get's to see Hornet in a G-string bikini

As for reserved slots, yes it has been brought up several times. I'm not really thrilled with the idea. The server is here for all to enjoy, and I wouldn't feel right kicking some poor kid out who's having a good time because someone paid $XX for a reserved slot. It's just not fair. But I do appreciate you and everyone thinking about ideas.

And I am always and forever grateful for donations. The server truly would not be running without them. And without them, I would not be able to afford the new frankenstein I'm working on :tongue2:

I wish I could get out there more often and enjoy the server with you fine folks. My life has been ultra ultra busy lately. :homework: :love1: :sign12: :sign10: :spam2: :santa: :mumum: :offtheair:

But you guys enjoy the hell out of it, and I hope the new server will bring more good times.

lol, he may only be 12 but he has the vocabulary of a 18+ year old (compliment Zax) I think I'll be calling Zax "Mouth" from now on, like in the movie "The Goonies".

Since the lady Spam Vikings are outnumbered by you guys ( 3 that I know of...versus the multitudes of males)...I think we'd need some pics from the other side of the gender equation to round out the calendar! ;)
