If I'm not mistaken, he's referring to effects.
But yes, fog is good and I think this map has very little if I remember correctly.

Sorry-- I meant the smoke like effects.
The "FOG OF WAR" is still intact, and yes it does help performance by limiting the amount of map showing on the screen at any given moment.
With the lava "puff" emmiters gone and the yellow fuzzy lights removed it already is faster.
I also took out the hundreds of individual proximity type sound emitters which I'm sure ate system resources, and didn't add any much to the overall quality of the map.

Actually, the performance on this map should't have been as bad as it was to start out. I'm still scratching my head as to why it sucks so many resources unnecessarily....
HEY -- maybe it was designed for Vista!!!!
I think it's up to a good FPS now though. Just putting the finishing touches on it (or taking them off...).
