Either really lazy coding, or just lack of knowledge.

Nali Soul Suckers start with 275 health (which may or may not be adjusted up or down based on wave). I just looked at the code and apparently they're kind of cheesy - They gain health as soon as they attack, the particles are just a useless visual effect. Anyway, they gain 75 health per successful attack. So you could get a Nali Soul Sucker with 1300 health after 14 successful attacks. Considering these guys don't need LOS I can see that happening if there aren't people out there killing them off immediately.
Ah that is interesting to know. Thanks :)DW_WailofSuicide wrote:Alright then, I'll correct that - The particles are useless visual effect insofar as the "soul sucking" goes. The monsters gain health as soon as they start their attack, and you take damage from their attack as soon as they start their attack. The particles themselves can cause additional damage to you if you jump into them. They're rockets with a different skin (and they travel in a reverse direction).Dynadin wrote:If the particles are useless effects why is it (when the attack has stopped and left the three glowing lines floating in mid air) if you step into them you take damage, and you only take damage when the particles hit you. Not as far as I'm aware - You only get healing for damage done by monsters, but dealing damage to yourself should not "negate" damage done by monsters.Corky wrote:healing exp is negated as soon as a player does damage to themselves. so if you heal another player and they did lets say 20 damage to themselves, no exp for healing will be given at all, no matter how much you heal them. kind of wasted your stat pts on that ability in my opinion.
I have an update on this issue. I recently tried an experiment. On wave 7, my AM was the only player alive and the monster level was about 390. Unlike the last time I experienced this same scenario, this time I was on an adren heavy map so I was able to keep my globe on indefinitely just by popping pills. I pulled out my vamp+8 mp5 and shot a Nali Soul Sucker up to over 2000 HP before I lost track of it in the mayhem. I didn't lose any health to any Nali since I was globing the entire time. I also shot another Nali up to over 1200 HP with my vamp gun.DW_WailofSuicide wrote:... I thought, maybe the Soul Sucker Nali gained health when hit by Vampiric weapons - But I looked at them and there isn't anything like that.
