By the time Snaggle gets done with everything, the whole invasion code will have been rewritten by him!

If he was working for Epic, UT3 would be out 12 months ago, and would be called Unreal Tournament 2007 and wouldn't need any bug fixes or patches!

Although i commend your work on the idle kicker 2-3 minutes isn't enough. It actaully needs to be closer to 10 or so. The issue is players are being kicked and their aren't idling even while being out for the wave.

So they aren't able to click a button or hit the jump key (or do something that proves they are there) in order to stop the idle message and pending kick? Even a text chat messge would suffice (I assume Wraith kept that capability). Even as a spectator you can be idle. This is essentially a test of whether you are still present. That's why they are given a grace period to prove they are not idling.

Or is there some other issue?

Well, the 2-3 min idle kick isn't long enough, that's just a setting so it's out of your realm. Unless you want to implement it a different way. It was designed to kick someone in a time reference (and by god it works) all I'm asking that it just be made longer. It's still running active while a player is out, and I don't believe they realize that they need to hit a key. Also 2-3 minutes is virtually nothing, I don't even think i can take a proper bathroom break in that time frame.

I noticed Wraith set a Kick warning time of 60 seconds. So combine that with the system's MaxIdleTime (we'll use 2-3 min) you get a total idle time of between 3 and 4 mins (idle time + kick warning time & more with rounding) before you are actually kicked. We are getting to the point where the kicks won't happen because the wave will end and 'dead' folks will respawn and reset their idle time.

There is a middle ground that Wraith is aware of and can control. It is entirely up to him how he manages it.

I have set the idle time to 300 seconds, I took out my dog and gave him a bathroom break and brisk walk last night after changing it, so when I get back, it hadn't even gotten to the warning part while I was in the game idling, so now there should be plenty of time...

Someone mentioned that when your in a vehicle you can be warned about idling, with the new time setting, they can use the vehicle longer before needing to get out. Maybe this is a new way to prevent a single person from using the vehicle throughout the entire map? Not that we have any maps other than panalesh at the moment that has vehicles from what I remember offhand.

I got a warning the other night about redeemering teammates when I fell in area that I assume had a kill zone in it.

Map looks like a large dungeon with the caves underneath it. Mine layer is off to the side in a hallway.

Ok. Here's the problem. Eventually you will get to the point where the idle + warn time is longer than the wave time. This will effectively negate the intention of this functionality -- kicking people who get on & then just idle.

[Rant about human & animal toiletry needs deleted] :blackeye:

In my mind someone is either playing or not playing. Extended absence is, by definiton, idling. If someone really needs to take that much time away from the game, shouldn't they exit & let some other person play?

Hmmm. I tried to locate all the states that would constitute 'presence'. Not sure why being in a vehicle is not covered by those states. I'll check.
