this one seems like a cool idea
Reload wrote: Turret Placement - (RARE ITEM) - When activated, player will lose 125 adren, but would spawn a turret.
they have a mod like this out there where anyone can just drop a "turret" and are called sentinels
WailofSuicide wrote:-Refundable. I don't like the idea of people making choices on an ability they want, only to find out they don't like it in practice and then being stuck with it.
i like this too, i wish i could refund or sell back my points from time to time.

Part of the whole reason you don't keep your stats is because the balance of power between the classes is somewhat dependent on how difficult they are to level up at different stages of the characters.

You'd have people starting a medic, leveling up to a certain point, then switching to adren master once they have enough stat points to buy all the adren stats, then moving over to weapon master once they max out their stats.

Many of the stats have minimum levels before you can buy them, because they were designed to be something you have to work hard for and fight without while you build up your character. This idea would completely ignore all that.

I've played on servers where you get lots of stat points and can change your character at will... and it just makes it less important and valuable for people to keep coming back and building up their character... which is a big part of why Monster Mash is so addicting.

I've had to reset characters after building them wrong, and I know it made me think things through ahead of time and learn a lot more about the game and what works well in the long run.

Fry you articulated what I have been trying to come up with for a while now about the refund idea that everyone seems to be in love with except those who have been playing on this server for a while.

That is the one thing those new to this server need to understand characters take time to build and need to be built smart and with a purpose. Many people I see have just come on and maxed health or another stat thinking that will win. We have several guides here on the forums and refer people to them all the time, but they think what worked on this other server will work here on MM. The refund idea completely ignores those who have become attached to a character and built it over time.

Being able to refund points would make for a very bad precedent, allowing for a person to fast level with medic, refund go to adren master, build to point levels that allow them to then refund and own with Weapon master. Leave that refund alone, its for other servers I don't believe it belongs here.

Hmm, I can see where your coming from with that statement. On MM, I was able to turn my support WOP character into a Health juggie in the blink of an eye.

Should I change the system so that you just need X-Points?

"X-Points is Experience with a skill/weapon that CANNOT be refunded and is Permenant on a character, until Character is RESET COMPLETELY."

------
Also:
SuperSonic (?) Devised an inventory system mod for UT2004, and I was wondering if that same concept/mod could be applied here. We could have special items, but more importantly, skill reset items that will take either a massive amount of credits, or some sort of donation to buy/acquire. Personally, I'm against shelving up cash JUST for a skill reset thing. Just throwing that option out there.

Alternatively, we could have a system where some monster beats you up and you reset, for a fee, but you WILL be out for a round. :O

However, these are mere idea's, and since I really don't play on INV that much, I really don't have much of a say. :(

Well -

I think it's a no brainer that refunding classes shouldn't be allowed. Refunding other abilities? Maybe. But I was only specifically talking about any subclass style abilities that would be exclusive with other abilities. There's nothing in the game like that right now (aside from Class choice).
