I understand:
A) Most of you don't even know me and even if you did I play under a different name on SV (doit! lately)
B) TW's post about TMU map deletions/"pro" servers and their unfortunate statistics in Linkon's petition thread
C) that this is not necessarily a democracy

...but, I also agree with nny and ST on this.

Can't we just increase the map rotation? At the moment after a map is played you have to wait 16 games until it become able to vote for it again. Why not increase it to 25? This way all the maps stay and players are forced to play some of the lesser played maps.

Although obviously this may just mean that the same 25 maps are played repetitively instead of the same 16, but at least we'll be branching out in some aspect....

The lesser played maps suck... which is why no one plays them.

Mind you some of the more played maps suck too.

I say one tank me up map a year is sufficient.

This sounds like every map sucks.
I hear that some people hate every map except the three that they like.
You're not one of them, are you?

Actually... I'm a traditionalist in maps for the most part, because I don't play that much anymore and I'd prefer to enjoy the few games I do get in rather than take chances.

But, I've certainly learned to enjoy some of the maps on DW that at first glance seem like crap.

For instance... any map with a super shock and the room to abuse it is fun in its own right... Masterbath ftw.

That being said, I can tell you right now any tank me up map will suck by virtue of the super gorz approach to game play involved. I didn't like spambox I didn't like bitchslap and I freaking despise tank me up. Horrible games that are no fun at all to play. I mean any idiot can hop in a super armored vehicle and pew pew pew till the spam kills them. It's not fun. It is in fact incredibly mind numbingly boring. I quit server when those maps come up and I get on with doing other stuff. Which sucks sometimes.

DW is the only populated pub with hit sounds. So I like it. And don't get me wrong I like trying new maps... but I like trying pre-vetted maps that aren't complete fail. Tank me up maps for instance are not good in any definition or view of good. They are in fact the epitomy of poorly designed poor game play ugly maps.

So ... I guess in conclusion...

+1 to pre-vetted maps of all shapes sizes and gameplay...

-1 to 0 skill spam fests and maps that are either retardedly uneven or downright broken.

That's just me though.

The tank me-up maps are popular for some reason. I can honestly say I am not the biggest fan of the TMU maps, but I would not want them removed just because I don't enjoy them, thats selfish. Seems to me that if these maps are so poorly designed and whatnot, maybe some of the people complaining about them could make some "pro" maps, so we don't have to listen to how bad each map sucks then? I understand feedback and input is wanted and important, but you can't make everyone happy, IMO.

They are popular only with a small but vocal minority that are so bad at UT that they detract from game play across the board and in effect make the server less fun to play on... driving others away.

If they are the smaller half, then wouldn't that mean that TankMeUp wouldn't win the majority of the votes?

It doesn't when I am playing. It wins once every 3 or four sessions I am playing. The problem is... once it does win... everyone leaves and the same small group keeps voting in one tank me up after the next until the map voting prohibits it. Then they leave and normal play can resume.

Now assuming you treat this as it is... kiddie pool ut. What I want is an adult swim time.

That sounds a bit fair, you guys play three maps you like, and then you play TankMeUps for the next three
