I didn't tone any of the stuff down, what I did was make a change (anyone, correct me if I'm wrong, its what I read in my book, plus what I read on the internet some time ago and this info is based on my understanding.) to an attribute in the map editor [ under level info/meshLODdetaillevel], where you have choices between low, medium, high, and ultra. From my understanding, if you put it on high or ultra, it forces a higher level rendering, overriding what you set in your preferences, so if you have a low setting, you will be forced to use a high setting for meshLOD, it was set on Ultra, and I backed it down to high so people with slower cards will be better able to play while people who have everything turned up to the max quality will still see things the same as always. If the map looks "less pretty" this could explain why. I feel that no-one for whatever reason should have to be forced to render a map to a higher quality than what they want. In Arctic Conquest, I put it down a notch, so if you have everything set to low or normal quality, you won't see the "wind effect" as I like to call it. Try it for yourself. Arctic Conquestion II Beta map
I remember that map well, and thought about basing a map on it. I forget the name off-hand, but I know I have it on a removable drive. I think that the 5th Wheel would be an easy map to make ONS, as its symmetrical and has different heights which is something you don't see much. Maybe this weekend I can convert it. IT would probably be a raptor map, because mantas couldn't get high enough to go from top to bottom, I'll have to mull it over.ToxicWaste wrote:There was a map just like this running on your old 2k3 server Wraith. After playing this map i have come to the conclusion that the lack of the LG makes baby jesus cry. For such a wide open map you simply cannot NOT have the LG.
I have ran the map several times and it's GREAT! Know some will disagree but the rework on 5&6 are a real improvement and the new sign is a gas! P.S. love the fog ! Big applause! :hello1:

Thanks for your offer of help. If you want, I will gladly accept it. This is one thing I need help on. When I do a map, I enjoy making the things in it, but trying to figure out what vehicles, and what choices of weapons and where to put them is another thing. If you want to write me and tell me what nodes to put what weapons, I will do that. If you have any vehicle suggestions, write them down also. The map is near finished, and all I may want to do is add more decorations now, we have the newest revision on-line thanks to Toxic.
