"It should not be one big box" -- Agree
"We need more maps of this style" -- Disagree

Maps should not be just a single box room or useless looking room, but neither should they be portal maps, on the lucifer wave i spent probably 70 of the 300 second time you get to kill lucifers just trying to find where the hell he was... as were many other people, and maps like this cause us to lose since he was teleporting and people were having to go through 3 other parts of the map just to get where he was, by that time he'd ported again... Lets put in a scenario

Lucifer is in Ice Section, The map contains, Ice, Fire, Water, Earth - 4 sections, linked by ports however each section has 1 port to another in... You move to ice where you find lucifer, and as soon as you begin firing, he teleports to Water section, You go through Ice portal to Fire world, then through portal again to earth, then another to eventually find the water zone where lucifer is, but by the time you get there, he's already ported back to eath world where you just were... FFS!!!! *Ragequit*

Seriously a map in invasion cannot have ports, especially with boss monsters that will keep teleporting out of different worlds or map sections, and a map should not be a huge box either, maps should contain game flow, and portals create a sort of "Anti-flow" to a map *something thats been discussed in UT99 mapping test areas and beta test sites loads of times* and since Invasion is a style which incorporates monsters, it would be ok for some portal sections, but since we have boss monsters and they WILL teleport and We DO have a time limit to kill them, it just causes nothing but trouble and anger to players who are trying to hunt him down especially if he keeps moving to places, if ur gonna make maps like this just please do not make 16 different portal areas because then we are just gonna be totally screwed, 4 is bad enough!

Right first of all, shut up about UT99, this is a redundant topic as the gameplay is utterly different. Second, noone you were playing with had obviously heard of petri weapons, it involves tatics to win. Third, I can port between all sections in a total of about 4 seconds so you either have a laggy computer or have bad aim at the teleports. I have never had any problems winning on this map so I would give it another chance with a different set of people
To bring about the end you have to start at the beginning.

Dynadin,
I ask what kind of people is he playing this map with?

I play it a lot of times with bots, and win.
You know the bots aren't half as good as a Human player... and I still win the map.

Renegade, seems you are the type of player who have no skills and rely on powerfull weapons to win the game.

You can syncronize an attack on lucy with other players by making groups of 5 and spreading out through the map.
You can also use Petrification weapons like Dynadin mentioned, or even Freezing weapon (forgot the name).

You can also use a tranlocator in the next room where you know the teleporter will lead to next, and then roam to another, shall lucy teleport, just use the translocator to quickly go back to where you were.

There are so many ways you can win this map using different weapons and tactics.

Like I stated before, don't blame your lack of skills on the map.

Petri does not always stop luci from porting around, nor does a freezing, and FYI I Do not need super power, because unlike most noobs like dynadin who will go for the most powerful class Adrenalin master who will just spam the globe forever and never run out with a flak +8 NRG, i play the weakest class of the servers the medic, and i have got high scores before, so theres you already speaking out your ass.

And 2nd of all Dynadin, UT99 and UT2004 are VERY similar in gameplay, they are practically the same game, except better graphics and physics simulation, UT99 has recently opened a new gametype called Survival which has extreme similarites to UT2004 Invasion. Maybe you would try playing the game before bitching it off.

I'm going to give a very simple answer to this ... my main character is a Medic.
To bring about the end you have to start at the beginning.

Please don't bash each other with clubs now.
Thanks
The difference between successful people from others is
not in the lack of strength,
not in the lack of knowledge,
but rather in the lack of will.
