Hey guys, as most of you know from vent that i have been having some problems with this card and UT2004. Also i have been reading some other forums saying that this card has been having issues with other games as well. Anyways for those of you who have this card, there has been a new driver released today, July 5, 2007. I know Rubble has had some issues but seemed to have resolved them. But i am going to give this driver a try when i get home from work and ill let ya know how it works. here is the link to the new beta driver.

P.S. this driver is for windows XP/2000 32-bit

I haven't had any problems with my 8800gtx card with ut2004. I have not updated the drivers in ages, but just took the latest non-beta drivers for the heck of it, and everything is still good. You shouldn't have any problems as our cards are of the same family of cards.

really now? i'm still having problems with this card. only on some maps though, such as Dreamus-ONS, and Waisten-Tam. try them out and run around firing on waisten, and dreamus right at the core is where im getting choppiness. only if you have time of course :). but ya i'm kinda frustrated as i'm wanting to buy new games but dont know if there will be the same problems with those as UT2004. and ut2004 is already an old game and if this card cant handle it, damn.

What version Direct X are you running. you may have to upgrade for the 8 series cards?

Have you tried Vsync on in Nivida control panel? Also what are your fps on average. I have the 7900 gs and I seem to be capped at 90 atm but I never got under 40 on Dreamus now I tweeked it some.

That is about all I can think of. Maybe try 3dmark 05 and 06 and tell us what you get.

What exactly happens when it quits working? Perhaps the powersupply isn't up to snuff? Did you make certain to plug in the 6 pin power plugs into the card? (I have 2 - 6 pin plugs connected to mine, plus the 4 pin 12 v to mobo, plus the 6 pin to the mobo [all power supply plugs]) They take alot of juice!

You should have at LEAST 2 seperate 12v rails from what I'm led to believe. I have 3 on my corsair power supply.

I'm thinking that maps like dreamus make the card work harder than alot of the other maps, and maybe then is when you see the power supplied to it isn't enough. This is something I would look at if updated drivers/ direct X etc isn't helping.

One last thing, maybe the video card itself isn't good. I thought I heard about alot of problems people were having with the GTS series, but maybe that has been fixed...

I'm running directx 9c. and the vsync im not sure what that is. i know where it is but dont know what it does. as for the PSU I'm running the OCZ gamexstream 700w PSU, it has 4rails with 12V at 18A. And people say that should be plenty even though min requirement says 400w at 12v at 26a. as for the card itself, the 8800gts has i think two power connections, the one on the mobo and one 6-pin connector. at least that is all i saw. but ill let you know after i do some testing, if you come up with some ideas let me know :D thanks Wraith.

I actually have the same card, eVGA 8800GTS 320MB. And I also have the OCZ gamerextreame 700Watt PSU. According to my UPS my PC doesn't pull more than 250 watts at full load so I don't think it is a power issue. (I have a Core 2 Duo 2.4 OCed to 3.2, 2GB of mem, and a WD Raptor HD).

I too have issues with weird lag from no where. My FPS allways stays at 84/85, my ping is always sub 100(generally around 60). But yet in TAM last night with only 4 peeps, I will jump past certain areas and it lags like a mofo. It happens radomly, but it does happen. Weird as hell. I would mostly think this is a drivers issue b/c this is a DX10 card running a DX9 game.

Not sure what this is all about but hopefully newer drivers will fix it.

I basically have the exact same setup as you do Namu. the only difference would be the HDD. but none the less ya i hope nvidia will fix this problem soon. my friend and i are going to do some tests this weekend hopefully try to find the core of the problem. but Namu what i have noticed the most is that the card seems to have a hard time with the lighting. Wolf told me to type 'stat all' in console to bring up all the stats and i noticed some major fluctuation in the hardware column. but ya ill let you know if i come up with anything.

P.S. Namu there is only one 6-pin power connector right?
